Radler and Belga Star: Two Different Sisters

in BEER2 months ago

In Cuba, over 100 types of beer from many countries are sold, with Spain being one of the main suppliers. But there is only one beer for cyclists: Radler

At the recently concluded Bicycle Festival 2025, Belga Star introduced a new beer aimed at bicycle lovers: Radler (cyclist in German)

The Radler beer is designed to give cyclists a breather and a good time. In fact, it only contains 2.2% alcohol.

If it had a higher alcohol percentage, it would be difficult to pedal, don’t you think?

The curious thing about this beer is its lemon mix. Perhaps in your country there are even stranger creations, but in Cuba, this is the most innovative.

By the way, what’s the strangest beer you’ve ever held?

How We Got It?

Being at the festival wasn’t enough to get one of these new units.

Belga Star did a great job; before obtaining a free unit, you had to take a photo, upload it to your Instagram, tag some accounts, and show it to the bartender.

That’s how I got my first Radler for free!

Before heading out on a ride with my sister, we decided to try the Radler.

Free Beer!

The truth is, we didn’t like it, maybe because our expectations were different. The Radler beer is light and has very subtle notes of lemon. It feels more like a variation of lemonade.

Let’s say that if you drink it warm, it could be considered a medicinal remedy.

I don’t think it’s a bad option, especially knowing it’s aimed at enhancing the cycling experience. However, if I saw it on a hot summer day in the Caribbean, it wouldn’t be my first choice.

But not everything was a fiasco.

On our way back from the tour, we did enjoy a good beer.

Since we no longer had to get back on the bike, there was no reason to limit ourselves.

Belga Star

This would be the older sister of Radler, so to speak.

This beer is one of my sister’s favorites, as she is a true beer lover. I’m less so, but still, who in their right mind would say no to a cold beer?

We sat down with some snacks and enjoyed what was left of the festival, along with a real beer.

This is one of the brands that has remained in the Cuban market in recent times. So like us, many people have good memories with one of these in hand.

In our case, it capped off our participation in the Bicycle Festival 2025 while we enjoyed a good BMX show.

Two sisters, aimed at different audiences, living different experiences, in different situations.

Clearly, my favorite is the classic; I’ll leave the novelty to the more passionate cyclists.

This #BeerSaturday week I would like to invite @loreto.rico ( my beloved brother 💙) to share a beer

Also in summer, pseudo-beers with lemon and low alcohol content appear around here. As a beer I don't like this blend at all. As a soft drink I like others.

I can really consider myself a brewer. One of my favorites is Voll-Damm double malt. With an alcohol content of 7 degrees I think it is not a beer for cyclists.

A big hug @dahpilot.

I know your favorite; I haven't tried it, but my mom talks a lot about it when she returns to Europe; it's one of her favorites. It's definitely way better than the pseudo-beers.

I'm not a brewer , but I prefer them to have some alcohol and leave the bike at home for another occasion 😂

Meet my friend.

Hug!

I bet you can drink a lot of that beer!

To feel some dizziness, I think you need a barrel or two of it; that's not beer at all 😅
