Beer tasting can be quite a rollercoaster, wouldn't you agree?
There are days when you crave it endlessly, and then there are those times when the mere thought of beer feels off-putting.
Take today for instance (I’m still feeling off from the perimenopause symptoms…mainly nausea); despite my initial reluctance, I decided to join #BeerSaturday and picked up a couple of different beers.
However, finding the right brew proved to be a challenge. Also, I didn’t feel like being adventurous trying a random beer.
So, first up is Guinness!
While I was hoping for Kilkenny, an Irish Cream Ale, the stores I stopped by didn’t carry it so I got Guinness instead. I was a little sad not being able to find Irish Cream Ale but I stumbled upon a beer glass at a thrift store, adding a touch of joy to the occasion. I hope it’s a beer glass…it looks like it anyway and 500ml Guinness fits perfectly…
Pouring the beer into the glass, I couldn't help but feel a semblance of optimism, though I was probably being too optimistic. Nevertheless, the creamy foam and caramel-like richness made it a pleasant sip, perfect for those not-so-feeling-well days.
Next in line was the Flagship IPA from Steamworks Brewing Co., a local gem from Vancouver.
Adorned in a stylish, almost steampunk-esque can design, this IPA had me intrigued. And boy, did it deliver! Fruity yet robust, it embodied everything I love about IPAs.
However, something about IPA…it upsets my stomach. Is it a high hop content? And also the high alcohol content caught up with me, reminding me why it's best enjoyed in moderation, especially when feeling under the weather.

ビールが美味しくない…いやいや、ビールは美味しいのですが、ビールを美味しくいただけない、飲みたいと思わないのはやはり体調が良くないからなのでしょうか？まあ、ただの更年期障害なんですけどね。のぼせが酷くて辛いです😭
結構あるんですよね。飲みたい時は毎日でも飲みたいのに、飲みたくない時は徹底して飲みたくない。
今がそんな時なのですが、#BeerSaturdayには参加したいので2本程買ってきました。
けれどこう言う時って、これだ！と思うビールも見つからず、かといって冒険してみる気にもなれずなんですよね。
というわけで、先ずはGuinnessです。
Kilkennyという Irish Cream Aleを探していたのですが見つからず、少々残念でしたが、セカンドハンドのお店で、ビアグラスっぽいグラスを見つけたのでちょっと嬉しい私です。
グラスにビールを注ぐと体調が良くなったように感じましたが違うのだろうな、笑
グラスは500mlのギネスがピッタリ入るのでビアグラスなのでしょう(たぶん)
ギネスの泡はもっちりふわふわで見るからに美味しそうです。
黒ビールってもっと濃厚なお味かと思っていたら、結構スッキリなんですね。泡もビールもクリーミーでコクとキャラメルの様な風味があってとっても美味しいです。
アルコール分が4.2%と少なめなせいかスルスルと喉を通りました。
ギネスは優しいビールですね。体調が悪い時にはギネス良いかもしれません。
いや…体調が悪い時は飲まないのが一番なのだろうけど…🤣
次にいただいたのは大好きなIPA！
こちらはSteamworks Brewing Co. のFlagship IPAです。バンクーバー周辺にブルワリーを構えているローカルのビールです。
缶のデザインがスティームパンクっぽくてカッコいいというか、ちょっと可愛くて好きです。
IPA美味しいですよね。フルーティーだけどコクがあって本当に美味しいビールです。
そして、体調が悪い時に一番飲んではいけないビールでもあります(今気づいた)。
IPAはホップの量が多いとかなんとかで、お腹の調子が悪くなる人が結構いるそうです。
私もそのひとりで、アルコール分が6.7％と高めなのも影響して、今回はイヤな酔い方をしてしまいました。只今後悔の日々が続いています😭

Ah, Guinness is my absolutely favorite beer! Too bad it's pretty expensive in Japan so I can't often get it, but sometimes I treat myself. The IPA looks interesting.

ビールって色んな色があって面白いですね！ギネスビールは色も泡も見ているだけでワクワクします😆
室温で飲むビールはありますよね。ちょっと検索してみたらビールを温めて飲む習慣もあるみたいです。
both are amazing beers but i prefer the ipa :D
IPA is so yummy. It is always my favourite. I wish there are some ways to enjoy it without upsetting my stomach.
