Here's my entry to the BeerSaturday 338 on Christmas Eve with a beer to get me in the holiday mood with a white witbier, the Fleuve (River) brewed by Boldwin. Since we won't be having a white Christmas in Montreal, all the snow melted with the rain earlier this week, at least my beer will be white 😀.
Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 338 à la veille de Noel avec une bière pour me mettre dans l'ambiance des Fêtes avec une witbier blanche, la Fleuve brassée par Boldwin. Comme sur Montréal, nous n'aurons pas un Noel blanc, toute la neige a fondu avec la pluie du début de semaine, au moins ma bière sera blanche 😀.

The brewery Boldwin was founded in 2016 by Daleyne Guay, Jean-François Giguère, Isabelle Théroux and Olivier Thomann with the idea of producing a socially responsible, organic craft beer. Right from the start of this adventure, the beer received Ecocert and then B Corp organic certification for its compliance with management standards such as transparency to the public, social sustainability. Impressive... Boldwin uses grains grown organically in Quebec and brewed by the Collectif brassicole Ensemble in Boucherville. A few months ago, I tasted Massif des Roses, their English-inspired red ale, to be (re)discovered BeerSaturday 305.
La brasserie Boldwin a été fondé en 2016 par Daleyne Guay, Jean-François Giguère, Isabelle Théroux et Olivier Thomann avec l'idée de produire une bière artisanale socialement responsable et bio. Dès le début de cette aventure, la bière a reçu la certification biologique Ecocert puis B Corp pour sa conformité à des standards de gestion comme la transparence envers le public, la durabilité sociale. Impressionnant... Boldwin utilise des céréales cultivées biologiquement au Québec et brassée par le Collectif brassicole Ensemble à Boucherville. Il y a quelques mois j'avais gouté la Massif des Roses, leur bière rousse d'inspiration anglaise, à (re)découvrir BeerSaturday 305.
🍺 Tasting / Dégustation :
Fleuve (River) is a traditional Belgian white witbier with 5% alcohol and an IBU of 15. In the glass, it has a beautiful yellow, almost orange color with a beautiful white head. As it is brewed with wheat, the color is rather cloudy. Unlike the German white beer Weizenbier, orange peel and coriander have been added. On the palate, the beer is light with a hint of spice. Perfect for getting into the holiday spirit.
La Fleuve est une witbier blanche de tradition belge avec 5% d'alcool et un IBU de 15. Dans le verre, on a une belle couleur jaune presque orangée avec une belle mousse blanche. Comme elle a été brassée avec du froment, la robe est plutôt voilée. Au contraire de la bière blanche allemande Weizenbier, des écorces d'orange et de la coriandre ont été ajoutées. En bouche, on a une bière légère avec un léger gout d'épices. Parfait pour se mettre dans l'ambiance des Fêtes de fin d'année.
On the can is this phrase that sums up the beer: "This beer is the backwash of lights on our shores. When the wind shows us its true face".
Sur la canette on a cette phrase qui résume la bière : "Cette bière c'est le ressac des lumières sur nos berges. Quand le vent nous montre son visage véritable."
Design
All Boldwin brewery cans follow the same sober design, with a pastel drawing in the center, in this case a sheep with a white head. On the other side, a small phrase summarizes the spirit of the beer. Simple and effective.
Toutes les canettes de brasserie Boldwin respectent le même design, assez sobre, avec un dessin aux couleurs pastels au centre, ici un mouton avec une tête blanche. De l'autre côté, on retrouve une petite phrase pour résumer l'esprit de la bière. Simple et efficace.
