Walking the Way of the Cross in Hong Kong!

Hi, Hive friends, now is the season of Christ's suffering.
"The Stations of the Cross" (other names are: "the Way of the Cross", "the Way of Sorrows" or "the Via Crucis") are a series of images showing Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion.

Trip to Peng Chau

Here in Hong Kong we follow the tradition to walk the Way of the Cross every year. This time our chosen place for that purpose was the beautiful small island Peng Chau where we did our walk in a Trappist community.

On our journey to reach the island and then our final destination we also had to take a ferry. As it was very quiet and calm on the ride we had quite some time to meditate inside the ferry, prepare ourself mentally for our walk and think about the journey of life!

But now let me show you some pictures of the trip with the ferry first:

The Way of the Cross

The event itself took place on April 4th, 2025, the first Friday of the month, on a mountain and it was the second time that I've been there. As a Catholic I do it in Lent season. And together with me many other devoted Catholics visited this area to walk the Way of the Cross.

I took some photos of this event - hope you enjoy them!

And look at this beautiful Mama Mary and Church!

It's good that the faith is still alive even in a country that's not predominantly Christian or Catholic. That place looks so peaceful and perfect for reflecting, and that sakura-looking tree (the one with pink flowers) looks beautiful!

Yes, true, but the community members are mainly Overseas Filipino Workers. And right, the location was very beautiful. Thank you for your nice comment @ridgette!

Oh, I see...I thought most of them were locals, but anyway, yes the location was beautiful—hope you had a nice time there.

Btw, you're welcome!

It's truly heartwarming to see how Filipino Catholics continue to keep the traditions alive, even far from home. The peaceful atmosphere makes a perfect place to walk the Way of the Cross and reflect. Thank you for sharing this meaningful moment!

Hi @gretelarmfeg ,thank you for your appreciation. Good Friday is one of the important events as a Catholic Devoted. And yes it's a peaceful place as no distraction.

You're most welcome!

Nice practice. and that ferry looked so cool! 😎👊

Thank you, yes, it was a very nice experience!

I don't know much about religious traditions but it seems you all enjoyed your journey a lot! It's a very nice way to walk there! :)

Thank you @jaki01. I hope one day you will celebrate with us. It is amazing feelings to participate this kind of events.
