To celebrate and showcase Filipino culture and history. The town of San Francisco in the province of Southern Leyte held an event every year before the fiesta Celebration. This event is called “Cultural Night” where every department of LGU or employees should participate. It's about cultures and traditions but sometimes forgotten. That's why the employees of the LGU were here to revive the sweetness of the old fashioned Filipinos.

An old way of courtship through song and dance or also called “Balitaw.” It’s like actors in a theatre where the actors sing and dance. Although in “Balitaw”, only two persons are allowed to perform. Composed of male and female with the props of a single chair; The woman will be seated as the man continues on doing his intent of courtship. The man started singing a song and then the woman would sing after the man. So it's like what a man intended for that woman would be through singing. of course the woman replied as well and again through singing. Like a native woman, it takes time before she’ll answer yes to a man.

The Philippines, with its rich history and cultural diversity, boasts a wide array of traditional folk dances. Perhaps, “tinikling, pandanggo sa ilaw and carinosa” are popular folk dances in the Philippines. But for ordinary citizens of the Philippines, we didn’t know that there are a lot of them.

This time, folk dances from different regions which is not popular to the people. Just for an example, region of Bicol, Visayas and Mindanao. These colourful cothings are based on the custom of that certain folk dance.

Of course, folk songs were welcome as well. Obviously, the type of song should be from the native languages in the Philippines. Although this time, the participants were purely Bisaya, so Bisayan and Tagalog were the types of songs that were sung. It’s alright since audiences were mostly Bisayan as well.

Throughout the years, cultures have been passed from generation to generation. Though sometimes being forgotten as the world into modernization. This is a good way to refresh how beautiful and colourful the culture and tradition of the Philippines country is. Perhaps, a good way to say “we sould be proud of our country.”
