Reseña del torneo semanal de Chess Brothers S4T8 "Hurra Nepo"
¡Hemos completado ocho rondas de la cuarta temporada! Nos acercamos al ocaso del torneo mientras que algunos jugadores ya empiezan a pisar firmemente los primeros puestos de la tabla y otros aun se mantienen combatiendo fuertemente por seguir escalando. Lo cierto es que hasta los momentos hemos presenciado numerosas partidas de un alto nivel técnico y esto nos motiva a seguir compartiendo con nuestra comunidad todo ese conocimiento ajedrecista.
En esta ocasión tuvimos un incremento considerable en la participación, pues, a diferencia de las encuentros anteriores en los que la asistencia promedio ha sido de 20 ajedrecistas, este domingo la cifra de participantes inscritos se situó en 32, siendo el torneo con más interacción de esta temporada.
Noticias de ajedrez
En cuanto al epicentro mundial de ajedrez, las cosas se han aclarado bastante en el Torneo de Candidatos de la FIDE que está en marcha. Transcurrida la primera vuelta y parte de la segunda, parece que Nepo quiere conseguir la revancha contra el Noruego campeón mundial, pues hasta los momentos el subcampeón del mundo se mantiene invicto y acaricia la victoria con dos puntos de ventaja sobre su más cercano perseguidor, Hikaru Nakamura.

Una de las mayores incidencias vividas en el Candidatos fue la partida Raport vs Nepo, la cual levantó un mar de conmoción. Ian planteó una Defensa Petrov, la cual es un arma bastante habitual del ruso. Se puede decir que es uno de los mayores especialistas en esta línea. Parecía que las tablas le convenían, pues el día anterior había derrotado a Duda en buena forma y se encontraba bastante adelante en la clasificación.
Raport tuvo la oportunidad de firmar la pipa de la paz a escasos minutos de haber empezado el encuentro, pero el espíritu combativo del húngaro lo llevó a forzar el juego en un par de ocasiones en medio de una compleja partida.
Nepo, por su parte, con un uso "alegre" de su reloj, doblegó a Raport en cuestión de minutos, hazaña conseguida en parte debido a su afilada preparación de apertura, pues hasta la jugada 14 seguía "blitzeando" jugadas. Esto siempre llama la atención de la fanaticada que está atenta al trolling deportivos de estos jugadores. Raport en una entrevista posterior expresó su increíble decepción ante lo que parecía una preparación casera que había tenido mirada, pero que no sorprendió para nada a Nepo y, en un determinado punto de la partida, él perdió el norte y terminó colapsando de una manera muy volátil.

Más recientemente, Nepo venció al siempre guerrero, el joven prodigio Alirza Firouzja, quien resignado por su pobre actuación en el evento, ¡decidió pasar la noche anterior a la ronda jugando hyperbullet online! Todo el mundo parece coincidir con que esa fue su manera de canalizar la frustración o la ansiedad, pero que no es un comportamiento responsable y disciplinado, sobre todo considerando que estamos hablando del torneo más importante del mundo y que, a pesar de todo, su juego aún podría haber incidido en los marcadores.

Pues bien, al día siguiente en el torneo, Nepo aprovechó al desmotivado Alireza para propiciarle una paliza y así aumentar aún más su liderato. Ya parece muy difícil que no culmine fiscalizando la victoria absoluta, especialmente cuando ya faltan apenas tres rondas y tiene una ventaja de dos puntos sobre el segundo lugar. A menos que se geste un milagro, todo debe ir marchando a su favor.
Sin embargo, no todo se reduce al primer lugar, porque recordemos que el segundo lugar sí importa. En caso de que Magnus Carlsen decida no jugar el match por el campeonato mundial (cosa que creemos improbable), la FIDE sacará a los jugadores para ese match de este torneo. Estaremos atentos a las próximas novedades del evento.
Los resultados
Volviendo a la liga Chess Brothers, @eniolw (milignus en Lichess) reafirmó su dominación en el torneo suizo, el cual por cierto se disputó bajo un peculiar control de tiempo de 2+3, algo así como "lo mejor de dos mundos", pues este ritmo roza los principios del bullet, pero con la adición de tres segundos que pueden ayudar a acumular suficiente tiempo. Ha sido un experimento de @vjap55 cuando creó el torneo, aunque no pudo jugarlo por compromisos previos.
Escolanto en el segundo lugar tenemos a @emic con un score de cinco. El jugador de Argentina es uno de los mas consistentes en el evento y este resultado le ayuda muchísimo a escalar importantes puestos que por supuesto lo tiene bien merecido por exhibir un alto nivel de juego.
A su vez, @stayoutoftherz, nuestro amigo de #hivechess, nos sorprende con un rendimiento que le permitió hacerse paso entre los mejores tres y obtiene el bronce. En realidad acumuló la misma cantidad de puntos y mismo desempate principal que @emic. Ambos tuvieron un performance similar de apenas de 26 puntos de diferencia.
Estos jugadores completan el podio con el oro, la plata y el bronce. Les siguieron @fcastro177 con cinco puntos también y @pamboy27 con 4.5 puntos.

Posiciones interesantes del torneo
@stayoutoftherz vs @fcastro177: Las negras estaban mejor, pero se han precipitado demasiado.
Una partida digna de lucha por ambos bandos. La posición resultante es un caos total y las opciones para cada adversario están a la orden del día, aunque sí es cierto que la presión de la blancas sobre la estructura negra es considerable. Es un momento crítico para tomar una decisión y las blancas aciertan en tomar el peón de e5 con la Dama y no solo porque ganan un peón ni tampoco porque amenazan tomar el alfil de e6, sino más bien porque esta jugada es un defensa activa ante las molestas amenazas de la Dama negra en la primera fila de las blancas. Como se vio más adelante en la partida, las blancas al tomar exd4 defienden a la descubierta el alfil de e2 y traen el rango de visión de la dama a la protección de su monarca.
@stranger27 vs @emic: Las blancas no sintieron el peligro y recapturaron la pieza de forma incorrecta. ¿Cómo se debía jugar?
Un momento clave de la partida. Las blancas han cedido mucha ventaja en la apertura, pero tienen la oportunidad de volver al partido. En el mediojuego temprano hubo una simplificación en la columna d y las blancas terminaron perdiendo la lucha tácticamente. Sin embargo, en este momento las blancas podían recapturar la pieza en d4 con peón y en caso de la réplica Axd4, las blancas tendrían la fuerte Axb4! defendiendo y atacando, logrando una economía de la defensa, un concepto elemental en el juego activo.

Chess Brothers weekly tournament review S4T8 "Hooray Nepo"
We have completed eight rounds of the fourth season! We are approaching the end of the tournament while some players are already beginning to firmly step on the top of the table and others are still fighting hard to keep climbing. The truth is that so far we have witnessed many games of a high technical level and this motivates us to continue sharing with our community all that chess knowledge.
This time we had a considerable increase in participation, because, unlike previous meetings in which the average attendance has been 20 chess players, this Sunday the number of registered participants was 32, being the tournament with more interactions this season.
Chess news
As for the world chess epicenter, things have become quite clear in the ongoing FIDE Candidates Tournament. As the second part of the tournament has started, it seems that Nepo wants to get his revenge on the Norwegian world champion, since so far the runner-up of the world remains undefeated and is close to victory with a two-point lead over his closest follower, Hikaru Nakamura.

One of the biggest incidents in the Candidates was the game Raport vs Nepo, which raised a sea of commotion. Ian played a Petrov Defense, which is quite a common weapon of the Russian. He is arguably one of the greatest specialists in this line. It seemed that the draw suited him, as the day before he had defeated Duda in good form and was well ahead in the standings.
Raport had the chance to sign the peace pipe a few minutes into the match, but the Hungarian's fighting spirit led him to force the game a couple of times in a complex game.
Nepo for his part, with a " cheerful" use of his clock, defeated Raport in a matter of minutes, partially due to his sharp opening preparation, because until move 14 he was still "blitzing out". This always attracts the attention of the fans who are attentive to the sporting trolling of these players. Raport in a later interview expressed his incredible disappointment at what seemed to be a homemade preparation that he had cooked up, but that did not surprise Nepo at all and at a certain point in the game, he rather lost his way and ended up collapsing in a very volatile way.

More recently, Nepo defeated the always warrior young prodigy Alirza Firouzja, who, resigned by his poor performance in the tournament, spent the night before the round playing hyperbullet online!!! Everyone seems to agree that this was his way of channeling frustration or anxiety, but that is not a responsible and disciplined behavior, especially considering that we are talking about the most important tournament in the world and that, despite everything, his play could still have had an impact on the scores.

Well, the next day Nepo took advantage of the unmotivated Alireza to give him a beating and further increase his lead. It already seems very difficult for him not to end up controlling the absolute victory, especially when there are only 3 rounds left and he has a two-point lead over the second place. Unless a miracle happens, everything should be going in his favor.
However, it's not all about first place, because let's remember that second place does matter, too. In case Magnus Carlsen decides not to play the match for the world title (which we think unlikely), FIDE will pull the players out of this tournament. So we will be attentive to the next news of the tournament.
The results
Coming back to the Chess Brothers league, @eniolw (milignus on Lichess) reaffirmed his domination in the Swiss tournament, which by the way was played under a peculiar 2+3 time control, something like "the best of both worlds", as this rhythm borders on bullet principles, but with the addition of three seconds that can help to accumulate enough time. It has been an experiment by @vjap55 when he created the tournament, although he was unable to play it due to prior commitments.
Escorting in second place we have @emic with a score of five. The player from Argentina is one of the most consistent players in the event and this result helps him a lot to climb important positions that of course he has well deserved for exhibiting a high level of play.
Meanwhile, @stayoutoftherz, our friend from #hivechess, surprised us with a performance that allowed him to make his way into the top three and get the bronze. He actually accumulated the same amount of points and same main tiebreake score as @emic. Both had a similar performance of only 26 points difference.
These players complete the gold, silver and bronze podium. They were followed by @fcastro177 with five points as well and @pamboy27 with 4.5 points.

Interesting moments
@stayoutoftherz vs @fcastro177: Black was better, but has been too hasty.
A game worthy of a fight on both sides. The resulting position is total chaos and the options for each opponent are the order of the day, although it is true that White's pressure on the black structure is considerable. It is a critical moment to make a decision and White succeeds in taking the e5-pawn with the Queen, and not only because he wins a pawn nor because it threatens to take the e6-bishop, but rather because this move is an active defense against the annoying threats of the black Queen on White's back rank. As seen later in the game, White by taking exd4 defends the bishop on e2 and brings the queen's range of vision into the protection of her monarch.
@stranger27 vs @emic: White did not feel the danger and recaptured the piece incorrectly. How should it be played?
A key moment in the game. White has given up a lot of advantage in the opening, but has a chance to get back into the game. In the early middlegame there was a simplification on the d-file and White ended up losing the fight tactically. However, at this moment White could recapture the piece on d4 with pawn and in case of the reply Bxd4, White would have the strong Bxb4! defending and attacking at the same time, achieving an economy of defense, an elementary concept in active play.
