Desde muy chicos, hemos visto por la televisión lo bien que se ven los deportistas profesionales jugando al fútbol o a cualquier otro deporte, la calidad que demuestran y la facilidad con la que hacen movimientos que para nuestra corta edad eran imposibles de hacer. Y siempre me preguntaba entre mis pensamientos ¿Qué se necesita para alcanzar aquel nivel? ¿Cómo puedo ser como ellos? ¿Cómo hago los goles de Ronaldo, los pases de Iniesta o las paradas de Khan? Mi imaginación volaba, mientras pateaba una pelota contra la pared, o intentando atinarle a la lata que había puesto a pocos metros de distancia ¡éso sí que era felicidad!.
From a very young age, we have seen on television how good professional athletes look playing soccer or any other sport, the quality it shows and the ease with which they make movements that for our young age were impossible to do. And I always wondered between my thoughts, what does it take to reach that level? How can I be like them? How do I make Ronaldo's goals, Iniesta's passes or Khan's saves? My imagination was flying, while I was kicking a ball against the wall, or trying to hit the can that I had placed a few meters away, that was happiness!
Muy frecuentemente nuestros padres cometen errores, pero sin duda uno de los mas frecuentes y mas graves es enseñarles a sus hijos a no ser perdedores. Que la competitividad siempre va antes que la diversión, y que la alegría debe convertirse en la disciplina de un soldado. Cuando la verdad es que lo primero en lo que piensan los pequeños, cuando salen a la cancha es en divertirse, en imitar lo que ven en la televisión, y que la mayoría de las veces olvidan lo aprendido en la semana, y que tan solo unos pocos estan concentrados en ganar el partido solo porque su padre le ofrecio a cambio unas golosinas antes de entrar al partido.
Very often our parents make mistakes, but without a doubt one of the most frequent and most serious is teaching their children not to be losers. That competitiveness always comes before fun, and that joy must become the discipline of a soldier. When the truth is that the first thing the little ones think about when they go out on the court is to have fun, to imitate what they see on television, and that most of the time they forget what they learned in the week, and that they just a few are focused on winning the match just because their father offered them a change of candy before entering the match.
Cuando ves las cosas desde el punto de vista del entrenador, te das cuenta de que muchos niños tienen aptitudes físicas que otros no tienen, que algunos tienen mas capacidad de coordinación, velocidad o más fuerza, que algunos tienden a ser holgazanes, otros por lo contrario son hiperactivos, pero esta en conseguir entre todos esos aspectos, lo que los hará útil dentro del equipo, como hacer que cada uno se sienta parte del equipo, sabiendo que aporta un grano de arena. Pero sin duda la forma más fácil de conseguir el engranaje de todas estas pequeñas piezas, es haciendoles saber que el deporte es una manera didáctica de diversión. Que cuando vean la cancha sólo piensen en felicidad, porque antes que profesionales deben ser personas felices, y ese es el verdadero éxito.

En los niños, el deporte solo debe ser diversión, de esta manera, si decide convertirse en profesional, estará haciendo algo que le divierte y además le pagan por ello.
