My editing process is me writing off-the-cuff, @cynshineonline proofing that draft, then me applying her corrections. Sometimes I re-read the whole thing a third time and make further corrections.

I kinda wish you read some of the other comments here, (at least the ones in our specific thread,) because I did address 'explanations.' Besides that, I've written about 'not having to explain upvotes or downvotes before, lol. Buuuut all good, lol, happy to re-iterate, so here goes:
I expect no explanation, I was simply curious about peculiar behavior, the same way anyone would be curious about peculiar behavior. If Pura started jumping around like a monkey, you'd probably seek to know why. If suddenly all your posts were at zero, you'd probably bother to inquire about it. So I asked.
Because in my 6 months on this platform I've written over half a million words, all highly praised and rewarded, often by whales, with only minor downvotes if any, and even then, any downvotes I receive are usually explained in comments, by their (often triggered) voters.
And so, this is the first time ever, a 6000 word piece of fiction has had it's rewards completely obliterated with no reason given.
And I'm 100% fine with it. No explanation needed, obligated, or expected. And the issue hasn't occupied more than a passing thought for me, (outside of responding to comments about it.)
Look at the tips on this post. They more than offset the downvote in a huge way, lol. Not only did this post receive bigger downvotes than you may be used, it also earned bigger tips than I'm used to. :D
I was simply curious about this first-time-ever behavior since my debut here. I'm new-ish here, and don't know all the whales, or 'rules,' and thought someone might know something...so I asked, super gently, and with no agenda. Hopefully I'll be 'allowed' and encouraged to ask questions if I ever have another, lol... as so far, it's the only way I've been able to figure out this crazy place called Hive. :)
And sure, I'm totally fine if the whole thing gets zeroed out, lol.

Oh dude we had to return them night before last. They're out of surgery yesterday and recovered, officially ready for new homes today. They'll each be gone by the end of the weekend. We miss them so much, I'm glad we got the opportunity to get them tuned up. Lookin forward to the next one(s).

Man the healthiest downvote I ever got was on a fucking comedy piece! Shit even had a #comedy tag. It was rewarded nicely for me too. Woulda been about 30-40 bucks if I remember correctly, it's been a long time but I'll never forget the value of that downvote. They were jokes. I even tagged the word #joke in it.
I'm telling you this cuz I never an explanation so believe it or not, I have a vague idea how you feel. Eh, to this day I have it pinned down to two jokes ("jokes!"). It must've either been the atheist one or the lifted truck driving douche bag one.

Your comedy story is a perfect example of a curiosity-sparking behavior. If you go to extreme effort to tag it comedy, and joke, and who knows what other indicators were offered, and the post is clearly resonating and valuable to the vast majority of your viewers... it's very peculiar for someone to swing by and downvote it powerfully without so much as a word. Like yourself, I'll gladly take it as it comes, everyone's free to vote as they wish... but given your story, I can't help but be curious. It'd be nice to know what prompted such anomalous behavior, though we likely never will. Just as in my case, all we can do is speculate, was it joke #1? Joke #2? Some other reason entirely? (cue 'Unsolved Mysteries music with Robert Stack voice-over) :)
