Maybe you're asking about the other cuatro. It is paused for the moment. Meanwhile, I'm gonna start this other project I had pending. This is the progress so far.
Quizá se pregunten por el otro cuatro. Está en pausa por ahora. Mientras, comenzaré con este otro proyecto pendiente. Así va por los momentos.
This neck was ready for a while, but now I got the fretboard on and joined the pieces of the back. This cuatro will be different as it's colors will be shifted form the usual.
Este mástil ha estado listo desde hace tiempo, ahora tiene el diapasón encima. También hice la junta del fondo. El detalle principal de este cuatro es que sus colores estarán invertidos.
Here we have the reinforcements of the back piece fixed on place. Not real problem here only that we need to carve the center bar before getting the horizontal ones. After this is ready, a piece needs to go out to make room for the lower reinforcement.
Se colocan los refuerzos del fondo. Esto no da problemas, solo es necesario labrar el tapajuntas antes de colocar los refuerzos horizontales. Después de hacer esto, se remueve una pieza de este refuerzo para hacer espacio para el horizontal.
After the reinforcements are in place, it's time to carve them. I went a step further and made a curved shape in the middle with the help of a tube and sandpaper.
Después de tener los refuerzos en su lugar, es hora de rebajarlos. Hice un poco más y lijé un adornó horizontal con papel de lija y un tubo.
The last piece of work was on the strumming guard. I removed some material to even it. Cut it in half to place an ornament in the middle and glued it back together. Here you can also see the main feature of this instrument: it's dark wood sound board. This has an interesting sound, but only the finished instrument will tell if it is any good. I have high expectations about it.
Lo último que se hizo fue trabajar en el golpeador. Se removió algo de material para emparejarlo. Se cortó a la mitad para colocar un adorno y se juntó nuevamente. Aquí también pueden observar el detalle principal de este cuatro: una tapa armónica de samán. Esto produce un sonido interesante, pero solo se podrá saber qué tan bueno es cuando el instrumento esté listo. Mis expectativas son altas para este cuatro.
