"What's that in your hair?' Jamie says when I get home. 'Did you get any paint on the walls or just you?'
Okay fair play. I'm covered in paint from brightening up the bathroom with leftover paint from the old house. I wanted to freshen it and and get rid of that tea green.
It's not a room we can afford to renovate for a few years, but also we don't NEED to, as it's functional. We have big plans, but for now, we'd like to concentrate on the rest of the house and, I don't know, maybe have a restful summer? Like crazier things could happen.
I don't like painting but I wanted to take some pressure of Jamie. So whilst he was at work I put on some banging tunes and danced and wiggled and covered myself, and some of the walls, in paint.
I get soooo bored doing a job like this that I get half way through one section and then go start another.
Then after two coats cutting in I realized that I should just paint the fucking window and inner door frames the same color as it'll all be eventually removed anyways so why should I bother?
One thing we will keep is this bathroom mirror cabinet. It's actually very practical. I love how it reflects the spotted eagle ray print I bought from a local artist and surfer. Ahki Illustration has so beautiful works - check her out here. The rays are local to this coast. They fly under me whilst I'm surfing. I nearly got her whales but the rays took my heart.
The other photo is of Point Addis from a photo I took of Point Addis myself when I was 16. I developed it in my Dad's dark room. It's kinda faded and retro and I love it. There's a lot of pictures back at the old house I won't hang in this ne ... Time for a huge change.
I also got some wooden handles and a bath shelf thing to warm it up and contrast the white. I also put them on the cupboard in the toilet. I painted over this, and hinges, because they are shitty old hinges and the whole cupboard will go eventually. That wall is half built - plaster goes on it next week.
Absolutely love this live version of Ganja Smuggling by the way. God knows what the electrician thought of this middle aged chic and her musical taste.
I still want to paint over the tiles to make them 🤍 white but Jamie isn't convinced yet. It'll only be a temporary solution but I think it'll look fresh as.
Eventually we will have a separate bath and shower 🚿 but for now this will do.
After two coats I was kinda done. My whole body hurts. I gave the walls round the sink and extra coat so I could put some plants on the bench and my spotted rays on the wall and call it a day. There's still patches to be done near the ceiling I couldn't reach and I didn't do the ceiling as my arms hurt and I couldn't quite reach. However it's a massive improvement and at least we have one decent room.
I may paint like a possum on meth but I can sure transform a room.

Lol, never seen a possum on meth... But now I know what to look for!
Yes, but you can imagine, right?
No toaster bath bomb? I bet that electrical outlet is in range :D
Looks a lot more fresh than the green, way better and no need to renovate as yet! Luckily the possum didnt have to do the ceiling :D
that is always a disaster and I tend to put on a dexter suit when doing this :D
Ha, good idea! Jamie ended up painting the rest of it - again. Including the ceiling. It took him half an hour. Why do I even bother lol
I like the contrast of the tiles. Getting rid of that green was a good idea! Love the plants.
Yeah the contrast works and the white helps make the tiles look a little less dated. I'd love some bright warm nickel or brass taps in there too but can't afford them..
Even if you say you paint like a possum on meth, the room looks.good already. Sometimes it’s the little updates that make a space feel fresh. When painting I also get bored and end up with paint all over me too😂
It's such a boring activity!
Wow nice decoration 👌
I like the bathroom tiles as they are — they're so pretty and that 'cloudy' abstract on them goes with anything. I wonder if those slick tiles would even hold paint? 🤔 Anyway, you did a great job on this room! The framed pieces are wonderful, too! 😊
There's a technique you use where you sand the tiles first then use special tile paint, and then you coat over it with something else. But they'll go eventually so I'll live with them. You're right though - there is something lovely about the cloudy swirls. You can live with anythign with the right way of seeing things!
Guess my standards may be lower, yet it looks like a lovely bathroom to me. Being a bath guy the tub called out to me. 😎 👍
I love a bath! How's that big bath yuou're sailing around in?
That would make a great boat name; The Floating Bath. 😂
Makina is presently at the East River Shipyard getting a facelift as well as other work in preparation of a passage south once hurricane season has passed (late Oct. - early Nov.) hopefully.
Ah, time for a rest then for you both.
Your space looks really cute and super attractive. It all turned out well it seemed, regardless or the challenges

Thanks so much!
Wow, you're really getting at it! Nice! Wishing you all the best for that project :-)
I love bathtubs, but haven't had one for quite a while now. I think last time I took a bath in a tub was around 2 years ago, on a vacation. But my brother is in the process of buying and remodeling an apartment here, and Lily and I softly, but firmly pressured him into the idea of installing a bathtub. The last time he was here, he had rented a place with a tub, and Lily went over there every other day just to take a bath 😅
Oh I can't have a house without one, no least because I get some peace! I hope Lily had some good bubble bath too.
She will! She's very persuasive and does really know how to get her uncle to do her bidding. Though my family has become better at putting limits 😅
