All of life's problems arise from desire, but how can you not desire anything?

in BDCommunity4 years ago

There is a saying that everything is impossible until it is done. I don't know who said or wrote this, but I usually believe this statement as a stimulus for me to achieve my goals.

However, when it comes to the power to desire nothing, I believe that in this specific case, it is really impossible. It's impossible because we don't usually stop to think that our problems arise from what we want, and because we don't think about it, we don't see what we want as something complex and that often harms our lives and our relationship with the present moment. Perhaps, even you who are reading this have never thought about this matter of fact. But, just stop now and reflect: What do you want? What are your desires that you cannot fulfill right now? When you think about them, what do you feel? Frustration? Do you feel like a failure? Do you feel wrong for not having what you want?

That's what I'm talking about: The fact that we always want something is what causes problems in our lives. Mainly, because we never want just one thing, there are always several things at the same time and as we accomplish what we want, there is always something more for us to want. I would say that desiring something is what gives meaning to life, it is what moves us. But what about when you come to the conclusion that you are never satisfied with anything you get?

I swear I stopped a little after writing the last paragraph and before of started writing this one: Because I feel kind of sad about this conclusion. I am that person, I am the person who is always looking for more, and I confess that I am tired of it.

Perhaps only a Buddha wouldn't want more than he has, wouldn't want more than now. My greatest desire is to reach that state of fulfillment where nothing is a great need.

But it's still a wish, isn't it?

And yet will I be very frustrated until I get there? LOL

This was just a little existential rant… Thanks for reading.
