Alice was a teenage girl who lived on the sea side of the country. She was an offspring of two rich couples. She had two siblings who she loved immensely. But there was something strange about her birth.
She was a mystery to the outside world and a wonder to her family. Mind you, she wasn't possessed with any spirit nor had she any power of a superhero.
Long ago, There was a prophecy in her lineage delivered to her ancestors eons ago that a child will be born from their loins who will be in the form of a human but with the qualities of a god.
The prophecy echoed that the child will be like a normal human being and the personality of this child was a gift to humanity that comes every 5,000 years to beautify the history of mankind.
Her birth signified the awakening and fulfillment of this prophecy. Right from her childhood, she was endowed with wisdom that surpasses all understanding. The qualities of a god was her ability of perfection except for it dwelled in a mortal body capable of experiencing death.
She made her parents proud in all her dealings, her intellect was on a scale of mystery. It was overflowing with brilliance, intelligence, smartness, and bravery. The list of qualities was endless.
Amidst all these qualities, her existence prospered her family, her society and those in her immediate environment. She had an influence capable of fertilizing any barren-ness and overturning stagnancy. She was the perfect incarnate of a life force similar to the sun.
A day came when her extraordinary ability was put to test. She was in the marketplace, on an errand to buy some lightweight edibles. The area was close to her house. It was just a stone throw away. Then something strange happened.
There was a case of theft. A boy, rugged in appearance, looking so unkempt was held by a shop owner and accused of stealing. He looked skinny like someone who hadn't eaten for days. He was held down for stealing a smartphone. He wasn't given a chance to defend himself. He was pinned down as the dispossessed shop owner kept shouting;
“Thief, thief, thief”......
Alice felt compassion for this boy who was just an adolescent. She saw something different as other people gathered and raced towards the troubling sight of accusation whilst the shop owner kept shouting "thief" repeatedly — this made more people gather to hold him down, hitting the accused from different angles.
Alice had an influence in this market because the market was renamed after her after it was reconstructed when she raised concerns about the need for government intervention on a radio station she was invited as a guest. Her speech and her interview went as far to the ears of the presiding governor of the city.
So when she saw the sight of this accusation, from afar she knew the boy didn't steal the phone. She had this foresight to read into situations with erroneous conclusions. She quickly raced to the frontage of this shop where the accusation of theft was being levied against an innocent boy.
Immediately she registered her presence, something usual sparkled up, some people hitting the accused paused from their action to extol her, while some while extolling her and beating the innocent boy, kept chanting thief. She couldn't bear the sight of the innocent being punished so she told the accusers, the people to stop; that they should stop hitting him.
She briskly said;
“He is innocent and knows who the actual thief is”
In a twinkle of an eye, that was how silence and shock radiated into the noisy atmosphere with eyes all turned gazing at her in bewilderment at the next utterance to proceed from her mouth.
