It's funny how one news can easily change the way we look at life. When Bella had walked into that hospital that morning to run a test, she was hoping it would come out negative. But instead, the doctor had given her the result with a huge smile on his face, congratulating her for being pregnant. He must have seen the shock on her face to know that this was more of a bad news than a good one.
As she walk out of the hospital, with the test result in her hand, she couldn't help but think about the night she first met Desmond.
She and her friend Juliet had gone to the club one Friday night to have a good time. They were both seated at the bar when a guy walked up to both of them and asked her for a dance which she had accepted. Juliet was surprised her friend accepted a dance from a total stranger because she knew if there was someone who always kept to herself among the two of them, it would be her and not Bella.
Bella and Desmond had danced the night off until it was dawn and they both decided to part ways, but not after they both exchanged numbers.
Things had taken off from things and they had gotten naughty during one or two meet ups. The weird thing about this whole was that during all of their meet ups, they had never gone to his house. It was always in an hotel or a friend's party, and whenever she brought up the topic of wanting to pay him a visit, he immediately changes it to something else.
Well now she was pregnant, and she needed to tell him because he was responsible. And this wasn't something that they could both talk over the phone, she needed to see him face to face.
The moment she got into her car, she immediately brought out her phone and dialed Ben's number. Ben was Desmond closest friend, he was with him at the club the same night she first met Desmond.
“Heeyy What's up?”
“All is not good, I need Desmond address”
This wasn't the first time Bella was asking him for Desmond address but there was something different about her voice today. In as much as Desmond warned Ben not to give her his address, he felt this whole thing has been going on for so long and so decided she needed to know the truth.
Ben sighed. “Alright, I will give it to you.”
It took Bella about an hour to locate the house on the address and when she did, she slowly and gently placed her finger on the doorbell before releasing it. She knew he was probably going to be mad at her for showing up unannounced, but it was an emergency.
Bella held her breath as she heard footsteps approaching the door. She quickly put up a smile on her face as the door knob started to turn but the smile vanished as quick as it had appeared. The person standing in front of her wasn't Desmond, it was a lady who was holding one of the cutest baby Bella has ever seen in her life.
“Who's at the door?” Bella heard the one voice she would never forget even if she was asleep.
She was about replying when all of a sudden the little baby started chanting “Papa papa papa”
“Papa?? You're married and you have a kid?” Bella asked a shocked Desmond who was surprised to see her.
“Well I only came here to tell you that I'm pregnant!” she said and threw the test result at him before walking back to her car.
Desmond picked up the sheet of paper, scanned through it before running after her. He met her just in time before she could drive out.
“Wait!! You don't understand.”
“Understand what?? That you have a wife and a child?”
“I had a wife, the lady you saw is just my daughter's nanny. My wife died three years ago during child birth” Desmond explained. “If you can only come with me to go meet her yourself, then you will see that what I'm saying is nothing but the truth.”
Five minutes later, Bella got out of the car. She had fixed up her makeup before walking over to the house again.
“I'm not his wife, just the nanny” the lady said the moment she opened the door for them.
“I'm sorry for the way I acted.” Bella apologies to the lady who said nothing but smiled before leaving the two love birds to themselves.
Desmond slowly grabbed both of her hands with his. “Well I don't really have a ring here with me, but will you marry me?”
“Yes, yes I will” Bella replied with a huge smile on her face.
