A Walk down the Memory Lane

in BDCommunity4 years ago

The wind got much heavier than it was an hour earlier. The dry leaves rustled on into the dark evening. The family of five gathered around the candle that was barely surviving the wind, lighting the room in a strange yellowish-orange tint.

There was no electricity since the morning so none of us 3 siblings had any charge left in our phones or any of the other electronic devices. This was a good. It was nice to re visit the pages from memory, 15-20 years ago. A simpler time when such a lovely evening used to drive chills through the spine while we read horror stories. Or maybe dive into the mysteries of Feluda. For some reason I always associated such supernatural vibe with the mysteries of Feluda. I always imagined Feluda solves his mysteries in the stormy darkness, wrapped in his elegant shawl!

The rain began to patter down as the family silently listened. How long has it been since we had everyone together like this, away from all the technological rubbish that worked only to increase the distance. 10-15 years...? I couldn't really say.

The candle flame flickered momentarily and we kept a keen eye on the candle. Who would have thought such a small candle would ever have our full attention! Then again, it didn't really have our full attention. Minds wandering into the past memories, when having burning candle wax on the finger tip was cool! Ah, how times have changed.

I remember vividly, when the electricity used to be back when we were kids, all 3 of us rushed to the candles around the house, blow it off and get as much of the burning wax on our fingertips and let it dry! Candles have long become irrelevant. Rain has a nostalgic charm, did you know?

Mother brought some Khichuri with Dim bhuna (Fried boiled eggs...?) and the smell tickled out taste buds in all the right ways! Whoever decided Khicuri with Dim Bhuna was the dish for the rainy day was a genius! She served us one by one and we waited eagerly, just the way we did before the internet happened!

As we let our taste buds enjoy the foodporn and have it's orgasm, I wished for the electricity to stay away a bit longer, the storm to get a bit stronger, the candle to flicker a bit more and the memory charm to linger on...

what a nostalgic moment! Actually whose are grew up in remote area like us every body was enjoyed this type of morning. Thankbyou bhai for sharing Such an aesthetic picture!

Indeed. These sort of days are hard to come by now a days! I tend to consider ourselves lucky. Kids of this era will most likely never have these memories.

I miss the light of lantern. Now a days kids can't imagine reading or dining under lantern's light.
How time flys.
Good to read your nostalgia!

Ah yes, Lanterns! I remember when walking along the muddy roads in our village in the night with a lantern, I was constantly expecting a ghost to jump out from the shadows!

Good morning brother
Such a sweet scenario to look beyond time.nice to read easy to digest.I remember when I was child, used to seat beside the pyre and have our breakfast .I think we adore these things, we cherish we believe and live.

For sharing this amazing content.my morning turns now to be a happy morning 🌞

Winter morning, foggy skies, burning fire and ভাপা পিঠা....imagine that 😋

কি আর ইমাজিন করবো ভাই, মন গ্যাসের চুলার আগুনে নীল হয়ে গেছে। হা হা হা

I remember how I happily always wash my mother's charcoal pot with sand and soap to make sure it is clean and for competition purpose with the other kids but now we no longer have such things.

We have electrical stove, gas, and the rest.

I do remeber the charcoal pot cooking! We still get them in the villages. But yes, in the cities it’s all gas stoves these days.

Okay.....

In my village, the charcoal pot is not usually washed (the back) but left like outside the house and that's because they tend to use it more often than when used in the cities because the cities kitchen is built inside while the village kitchen is kept outside the house.
