It is time for the weekly splinterland battle challenge and checking the lucky monster for the week out, I saw Gem Meteor was chosen, a range monster card with the scattershot ability, this ability when it was first introduced, I saw it as one ability that is independent when it come to attacking opponent monster cards, it attack any cards of its choice and even the taunt ability doesn't have any power over it, this ability can be deadly if paired with summoners like yodin zaku or waka spirit blade because it scattered attack will always have extra damage on those around it. The amazing part is the piercing ability it possess at level 5 and 6 which is no respecter of amour, it cause damage to the amour and deal the remaining to its health. No matter how good a card is, it will always have some hindrances and as a range card, it can't attack as a frontline.
The battle was a simple one between I and itzninjafool in a 46 mana capped match, we were given the Fog of war rule which doesn't allow any snipe or sneak ability and also the lost magic rule which prevent us from using magic monster attack in the battle and we could pick from any element except fire. Not given the chance to use magic cards and also not able to pick fire element, eliminate a lot of chances, there is a high probability my opponent might pick fire or even use yodin to cause havoc since we are left with melee and range cards but this isn't possible, So I had to go with dragon summoner while I paired with water and also had to pick the monster cards carefully.
I decided to use Djinn chwala because the card is really strong as a frontline and also the thorn and enrage ability is really important in this kind of battle and I support it using Manticore which also have reach ability that make it attack from the second position and also a thorn to deal damage back to any melee attackers, Deeplurker was next with the opportunity ability which give it the chance to be able to attack opponet card with the lowest health and also apply poison to it for extra damage. I decided it time to start using range cards since we cant use magic, so I picked zyvax vuul from the dragon element even though it possess this recharge ability that deals 3x damage every even round, I love it because of the close range ability that make it act as a frontline. Then I picked up the main monster card for the week Gem Meteor and lastly I used Wave brood with the taunt ability to distract my opponent attacks for the main time which really work out.
Thanks God fire element wasnt in the option given, it was as if I knew he will want to bring in range attacks based on the rule, he picked life summoner with extra range attack and also brought some rangers in but they weren't strong enough in terms of health which give me added advantage over him. Vuul really help with it recharge ability which deal 3x damage to uriel the purifer without missing while chwala destroy it completely before it heal up then from there it was way easier to secure the win and I won flawlessly
