This is my entry post for the Season Hunt Challenge Week 9 by @barbara-orenya in the Feel Good Community! The theme this week is Santas and Elves! You can learn more about the contest and how to enter HERE!
My photos are of Santas and Elves that I photographed belonging to myself and one of my sisters. They are of actual items or photos I took of images on items such as curtains, books, gift bags and more. There are also a few of items I photographed in stores. I also did edits on a few of them.
There is no denying that Santa works very hard one night (or so) out of the year but it is the Elves that make and or wrap the presents all throughout the year! While they enjoy doing this, they also enjoy their time off as well. I caught this little Elf outside playing in the snow and making Snow Angels! Elves love the cold and snow of Winter time so most times they don't even need a coat. They are a bit magical after all!
(About the above item) When I was a child I had an Elf that very much resembled the elf above. My Elf was a bit larger and had more of a vibrant green cloth which the body was made out of. That Elf, sadly, was "lost" forever in the house I grew up in. I found this similar Elf many years later. The face is exact but the body is slightly different and made more of a felt type material. When I saw it for sale I purchased it on impulse but I haven't regretted my purchase as it does bring back some fond Christmas memories of my childhood.
The following are several Elves. The Elves on the Christmas trees I photographed at a store and the other two are Elves I photographed while visiting my sister this past week. One Elf was pictured on a gift bag and the other is a window decoration of a good size Elf that she has had for a number of years. She has him displayed in the big window in the front of her house.
This is a cute curtain that my sister has in a side window of Santa arriving and looking in. Gotta' make sure the children are fast asleep before descending the chimney or perhaps he was checking out what kind of cookies were left out for him. My sister has displayed this Santa curtain many years. She doesn't recall where and when she originally bought it. She used it when her children were little ones and now uses it for her grandchildren.
I took photos of these next two images at her house as well. The Santa image on the left was pictured on a gift bag and the image on the right is the classic book "The Night Before Christmas" which she has displayed on a shelf and will read to her grandchildren in just a few days from now.
I did an edit on my next photo. These have a sentimental value to me as they belonged to my mother who passed away a few years ago. I always thought of them as Elves and they do sit on little porcelain wrapped presents. They are not very big and have seen better days. The paint is coming off in spots and there are a couple of chips in the porcelain. I don't know how long she had them but they were just always there displayed in my childhood home as far back as I can remember.
This was a photo of an item displayed in a store (Cracker Barrel). It is a glitter globe and I thought I would put the glitter globe into a snow globe.
I only have two more photos to show you. This is the last photo I have of photos I took while visiting my sister. I didn't put Santa into the Christmas ball that was on her tree but he was there when she purchased it many years ago. It also looks like the same Santa image that was on the gift bag above.
I did another edit on my last photo. I think the character is technically a troll but he always looked more like an Elf to me so I'm including him here. I no longer have him but I'm glad I still had a few photos that I took of him when I did. Here I put him in a Christmas scene, I made and decorated a little Merry Christmas sign for him to hold and added a little snow. I thought my little troll-ish Elf or elfish Troll wishing you a Merry Christmas would be a perfect and nice ending! 💖

We are having quite a wind storm here. No snow but rain last night. I hope the power doesn’t go out.
Thanks so much Jo!! Luckily, I had most of my post done before Phil left. I have to say that the darkness of depression is trying to creep in but I will put up "the good fight" as the saying goes .. I think. I did enjoy the extra fun I had with the Elves. I do hope your power stayed on and continues to stay on. The wind worries me more sometimes with so many big trees around. What a successful hunt that was @deerjay. Your photo edits are awesome. I like how you made the falling snow on the photos which is something I still have to learn how to do. Those two lovely lady elves are absolutely a family heirloom and I can see one of your grandkids handing them down to a great great grandchild of yours years and years from now 😊 The Santa curtain is a charmer. The kids will love it.
All in all, great finds and captures. Looking forward to more season hunts from you 🤗 (and definitely a lot earlier visits from me).
