Happiness is homemade. Today I want a piece of that, enough that I can almost taste it. I know it is too early to put up the tree, but, it is time for me to sit down and put together that Christmas letter, the one that catches up with the entire extended family and the many friends that I don't have day to day contact with. Pictures included.
There are several different letters. The family gossip, the friends until the end letters, the elderly extended who like the catch-up... So, not too early, but, today, I am procrastinating.
Magic, lights, and glitter spilling onto my thoughts— at The House of Wigle. What is your favorite part of Christmas that raises it up and starts it spinning? For me, it is the magic, the transformation. So beautiful to see all of our worlds through different eyes. I have gotten to see Christmas around the world and it leaves me breathless. It is amazing, different, and yet so much the same.
And truth be told, it is the anticipation of things to come. How this season of joy works miracles in the soul.

It's not the baubles, glitter, or sparkles that light up my tree; it's the homemade love that was made just for me. Each and every single one has a memory or a story attached to it. I reach out and touch one, warming me up, right down to my toes. Who doesn't love a gingerbread man?
It's the moments for me. Snippets. A hot steaming cup of love, dressed as coffee. That is what met me this morning. It couldn't have been any more perfect, nor more perfectly made. I'm grateful to have people like this in my life. Giving from the heart usually doesn't cost a cent, but, you usually cannot put a price on all that love anyway. Give of yourself. I don't need things. I just need to be loved or appreciated or shared with. It is not like I don't enjoy a well-placed gift. I receive with great joy too, but not because it's Christmas, but, because you saw something that reminded you of me, or you secretly knew I wanted it - or something. Some people wait all year to give and do it with such grand gestures. While impressive, I personally prefer the smaller things that mean a lot. I am embarrassed by the thought of someone spending great amounts of money just to show me they like me or appreciate me or because it is Christmas. Not to say I am ungrateful, just feel bad that you feel you need to spend big amounts of money. I like warm hugs on a cold night. Just saying.
There must be a flower, always. To color my world. #alwaysaflower
I dedicate this post to all of you. You bring joy to my soul and spread your love across the world. For this, I thank you. And just like that, these musings are done...and just so you know, although we will be throwing glitter around the globe, I can guarantee you that there is still a little left to take us through Christmas. I love Christmas. It may not be the same this year. It may be a little quieter... but it's Christmas. We will be celebrating just like in the past!

Gingerbread man biscuits reminds me of our youth, (I never ate ginger, but enjoyed the shortbread), my Mom made the most delightful little ones dressed similar to your photo.
Coming from a home where the cookies and love was abundant, no big gifts filled stockings, no need for them when we all had each other.
Yes one totally relates to spending on things another may not need, perhaps it is good to keep it simple, spread it out more into every day of the year.
Gifts have never been important to me or even when my kids were small, growing up. It was the seasonal joy, love, and the family that made the holiday so special.
Buying for the sake of a gift was never part of the plan. What's the point?
As you already know, I've always loved everything about Christmas and all the fun anticipation.
It's been hard to think on it this year, a real mix of emotions. On one hand, the joy and excitement wanting to break through, while the reality that covid means there should not be the normal, wonderful family gatherings. Houses full of loved ones and laughter all around. Although I love it all, those things are the most special to me. I would happily forego the thought of any present, to be able to gather and hug the ones I love.
No matter how much I think on it, I can't seem to come up with anything that makes that ok. I know we will all get through it though.... somehow.
I'm a little down about Christmas, mostly because I won't see any of my family ... the kids that are home, the others, not so much.
No brothers or sisters... nada. :(

This whole year has been so different than anyone planned. I'm thinking that folks will search this Christmas season for those memories that warm and comfort them, and it will begin early.

I agree!! It will be different and we won't be hosting any parties, family or otherwise, I live away from home, so it would be traveling, which I won't put anyone through. But, we will make it a wonderful day, nevertheless.
I think comfort and joy will be big on the list this year. Having lived so many different places has made it so my friends are spread far and wide. I sill connect through snail mail with many of them. Most of us like getting that random letter.

You were not the only one who dove into Xmas today. We brought out Christmas carols. I am moving home on the 14th and so no point int decoration. But chances are the decorations will be up before dec.1.
And yes ... I will take thoughtfulness over expensive gifts any day.
