when i learned the keywords were rope and hand i immediately knew where to go- down to the docks along the canal with the old wooden boats. plenty of rope there. these boat owners take great pride in their boats and it really shows.
now, i had to go out on the floating dock between the boats, reach out to get a hold on the rope in one hand and manage my wife's phone camera in the other. her new phone is quite slippery and i had to hold it over the water. to get the shot i had to press the button with one finger while still holding the slippery phone.
if i dropped it i would never hear the end of it. i could replace the phone but not all the pics and more stored on it. anyway i managed and breathed easy afterwards. only then did i do my risk/reward analysis of the situation.

thanks a lot. the owners of these beautiful seaworthy vessels are a special lot. they put a lot of hours in keeping their boats in ship shape. when they are all lined up in the canal it is a sight to behold. the coiled rope is but one of many details that make these boats so special. i hope yo see your entry in the next round
