Feel Good Community Presents Alphabet Hunt Letter "S"

Strand Back to wacky wicked English where word may have more than one meaning.

As a noun shore (beach), of sea, lake or big river, strand birds landing on shoreline. Slight change becoming an adjective, one can also become stranded outside a country on the side of a road.

As a verb, a ship is stranded in shallow water of the ocean floor, a stranded whale on a sandbank.

Strand of rope, hair, wire, cotton, DNA, spider's silk. Spiders start with a single superstrength strand to start a bridge thread between two secure ends, the Bark spider I recently wrote about allows to wind to carry the strand across a river or between trees.

Below is the Golden Orb Web Spider, weaving silk strand.

Silhouette When the sky turns into pale colours, ideal time to capture silhouette photography from wherever you are, superb time with sublime slick magic rays sprayed as a natural backdrop.

Succulents Beautiful plants of many shapes and sizes, require little attention and thrive once settled in the right conditions, water wise which makes them super to have in drought stricken regions.

Everyday we seek out a sense of balance, a harmonious equal beautiful proportions bringing life symmetry in music, arts, architecture, chemistry, reflection, something to think about other than in nature.

Social To be social when growing up meant going out, being with friends, time spent together, social gatherings took place in dancing clubs or groups connecting and communicating. Humans, bees and ants live in large communities making us all social.

2092Sicial.JPG

Along came "Social Media", this form of being social is still relatively new, so relating to memories of then and now one needs to throw caution to how social, social is.
Something we all strive for is being social, word of advice is to find this full video to consider modern day social interaction especially if children are in the home. Trailer - Netflix - Social Dilemma Video

Lovely collection of photos. What lovely tiles with the elephants around the edges. very very nice! bird photos awesome too

Thanks for visit and kind words, the tiles I noticed in a very old establishment and could not help myself but take photos, not a common design.

A very good hunt for you. Strand as you depict it turns out to be a multi-faceted word with numerous meanings. You have made your point quite clearly. I am in awe of the spider as it is as beautiful as it is deadly. I have no fear of spiders though I'd rather not be in the same room with those really big ones. Symmetry and Social may be unique words too like Strand. I had wanted to use Succulent too but did not have any good pictures. Congratulations for a successful hunt and some really choice and unique words (with photos all too vivid and alive). I will see you in the "T" :)

Has been fun finding words, meanings even when you know them double check, then photographs, yup enjoyed your post as well and look forward to seeing you on the letter "T" soon!

So cool words, Joan, I like them all, but the Strand part was most interesting for me. The
Golden Orb Web Spider looks great 😀

The facial expression of the statue looks somehow satisfied, maybe after a busy working but good life.

Your hunt was once more a big success, Joan 😊

Strange how one can visit a place regularly and always see something different, the Golden Orb Web Spider makes such a grand design web they are hard to miss.

Old Madala (an enduring term of respect for elderly black gentleman) I bought up in the Drakensberg many years ago a gift for my late Dad, now quietly watches over me. The face tells a story that is for sure.

Thanks for kind visit and goodies, always appreciate explaining this strange English language, even though we grew up with English as the mother tongue, there are words that still make me smile....

Oh yes, I have also places where I see always something different or new.

We don't have many big spiders here. Yours look much bigger than the biggest I have seen in nature yet - I'll post the Wasp Spider in a few weeks.

I hope you will have a very nice weekend 🌞

Ha ha, planning ahead for W already, going to get even more difficult and interesting.

Yes, these letters are going to be very interesting, but also very hard for us non native English speakers ,😉

That is what I like so much in English language, one word - more than one meaning and strand is such a good example.
Wonderful selection of s words.

A language within many languages sourced all over the world, still confuses even when spoken all your life @nelinoeva, thanks for visiting and kind comment.

Super S-hunt Joan, my favourite is the Strand as on the Shoreline, I just love how you looked at the many meanings of that word!
Socializing is the one thing I really missed during lockdown, such a vital part of living. I'm very interested in watching that video. Children today are way too fond of socializing via social media vs personal contact which is so important as part of developing relationships and so forth.
Have a great weekend!

Video is extremely interesting, scary in a sense and needs to be watched to understand fully the depth of deception going into modern thinking.

Be aware and wary especially if there are children/grandchildren in a home, forewarned is forearmed going into the future. Nothing in life is black nor white, always very gray areas.

Thanks for visiting and have a super weekend Lizelle.

Thank you Joan, I certainly will look at it! Been a crazy busy week and weekend with guests changeovers and all the sanitizing we have to do but I'm truly thankful for the business;)

Oh I have dreaded chores I keep putting off, not additional just feels crazier than previously 🙃

Happy S-aturday! Heyyy, another 'S' word... :)

Yup the Saturday's come and go so quickly of late, always lamenting never enough hours in a day. Have a good one @ackhoo 😃

You certainly didn't waste anytime in using the "S" here in every possible way especially with the sea and the spider and the silhouette's are breathtaking good luck in the draw 👍

Enjoy the fun of this challenge, definitely has had thinking caps firmly placed!

That is certainly does it's very educational i have learned so much from this contest 😁

A very successful hunt with some great S words and marvelous photos! I love the gull with his skinny shadow in the sand.

Missing the beach of late, shadow hunt which I have yet to participate, really slipping up Melinda, and yes I do think about doing one....

You already do so much here! There is only so much any of us can do. Even when we wish we could do it all! ❤️

Always something to do, most of the things I should do I never get to, normal story, don't enjoy, onto the back burner it goes...

I hope you do find time to join the Ladies of Hive Community and Discord!

True indeed, English words can have so many different meaning is would be confusing if not one’s first language.

You also have a wonderful spider for your Ss Joan. The silhouette is beautiful and the stone statue a lovely work of art.

Another successful hunt with delightful photos.

!tip

Not first language, even English speaking folks get muddled up on words. Thanks for enjoying the post and great comments always appreciated Jo. Have a wonderful Sunday.

Welcome Joan. 😊 Now you have me intrigued as to what your first language is.

I would love to be fluent in another language. I took French in high school for a couple years but have lost all of that without opportunity to use it, although Canada is a bilingual country. It was mostly written French when I went to school.

Have a great week!

nice job 💪

nice job 💪

Thanks @rafalforeigner appreciate the visit.

Lovely visiting the letter S with some beautiful photos! I watched that video "Social Dilemma" It's scary the effects social media is having on folks and the fact that the folks who were involved with developing it won't let their children on it or at least not until they were 16 or 18!

Video was of interest, life is always a two sided coin, we have been aware of this type of thing happening, just not quite to the extent it has.

Best to warn families with children, most children here have to carry a phone for security, connecting to parents, or peers sadly a necessity from very young.

That is sad that the children are not very secure there! I know things have sure has changed since I was a kid out playing in the neighborhood or parks, biking just having to be back for supper or before dark.

5 Children are going missing over here every day, this is not new but year on year it appears to be getting worse.

We were fortunate living in a different day and age with not many problems in many ways.

How unfortunate and I can see how that would make folks nervous and very vigilant of their children. Hard to imagine where the mindsets of those who take the children are at and it was very fortunate that we lived in a different day and age!

Dear friend @joanstewart

Interesting collection of images containing the "S" as an inspirational idea.

Beautiful photographs of beautiful places. I really liked them.

A big hug

Thanks @librepensadora always arriving with a kind word and lovely comment, wishing you a wonderful Sunday.

Stunning images with incredible reflections. I really like it when nature is not only enjoyed by its beauty, but also reflects various meanings that only someone with a high level of sensitivity and inner clarity can say. Amazing! Thank you so much for sharing.

Life offers such superb places of interest in what is around us and in communicating what we see, this has been such a fun contest. Appreciate your visiting and kind words @keuudeip

It's all true. Totally agree with you.

Those are amazing pictures!! Panda plant one and the spider where my favorites!!

Panda plant is velvety soft, stunning little succulent to have in the garden, spiders are scary and interesting all at the same time @tripode, thanks for visiting and awesome comment.

I personally don't like spiders! But in your photos she looks amazing!

Nice photos! Spider is striking.

Big web to capture passing trade, in gorgeous silk thread.

You really packed this one in nicely great selection my friend 👍

Glad you enjoyed the mix @bigsambucca thanks for visiting.

My pleasure and here we go with the next letter "T" happy hunting 😊
