Wisconsin has many different kinds of violets including American dog, marsh blue, birdfoot, kidney-leaved, Canada, long-spurred and downy yellow. I think wild simply refers to it being one of the many wildflowers that grow in our woods.
Wow so many types of flowers in your area and it's nice you remember their names which means you really love your flowers.
