A piano that transformed itself into an organ...?

Saturday afternoon goes by so fast, it's the weekend and I want to enjoy every moment and make it last much longer, but time doesn't stand still. And it's already dark, even though I know I still have a few hours before I go to sleep. It's not bad either, sleeping and resting. And dreaming. And if I still remember the dream the next morning, then it's even better.

I was so happy a few days ago because I remembered my dream from that night. No, this time there was no apocalypse, and instructions on what to do when it happens. This dream was positive and much longer, and much more detailed, down to the little things I saw and remembered. The sense of hearing was also triggered because there was music in the dream. Hallelujah!

But this is not the music that I heard and also played in my dream. I guess you would like to read my dream first? If yes, keep on reading. But if you are not interested, skip the next 4 paragraphs. Seriously! 😁 So, from the moment I remember... I was walking in a centre of a nice city, in Portugal. (I know it was that country, I have that very certain feeling that I know where are the places from my dreams, but when I try to find them in real life, they are not there 😂). Maybe some other dimension is playing the game here, but I just can't prove it yet hahaha. Strolling through the streets, seeing people, buildings in different colours, many windows... Shops, randomly appearing flowers, the murmur of people and happy feelings that I am there. It was not just an ordinary trip, seems that I was there as something big had to happen. It was not happening in 2022, but can't define if it was in past or in future. Hmm... the feeling is like when you have a memory of nice things from your childhood, but I am not a child there. I arrived at a square and saw a tall tower, very similar to the tower of the New Town Hall in Munich. Many details on the facade, and I wanted to take a photo of it. From my bag, I took out a white tablet (I recently took it from my son as he doesn't use it so I try to organize there my piano scores) and wanted to shoot a photo.

Oh, you know what happened? A lot of foam started to come out from the gadget. Something like white bath foam, growing and bubbling so I tried to remove it but it was not possible. Just worse. More foam. A woman approached and we started to talk a bit, I forgot about the foamy pad and town hall, and I followed her to a place, that would not be her house, nor the office but maybe a place she had some gatherings with other people. Seems that they just finished a session of something (a gathering, a ceremony, a religious act, a meeting? that detail was not revealed to me). I was just standing in a side room that was full of bookshelves, paintings on the walls, so many wooden and clay decorations on the shelves, on the massive wooden table (that btw was a mess, as many books, papers were all around on the top of it) and wooden decorations were even on the top of the upright piano. There was a window on the right side wall, looking towards the square and all those nice buildings and people. The piano was close to it, but the whole room was not very bright, it was more half-dark, calm, with light coming from that window, but not direct sunlight that would bother the eyes. It was just perfect.

The upright piano that I mentioned was antique and of brown colour. I saw a lot of things on top of it, among them two wooden figures, representing some humans or gods from prehistory, not really something that I have ever seen in real life. I approached the old instrument and started to play a piece by Ludovico Einaudi. I was playing the middle part of Nuvole Bianche, and to my surprise, it became difficult to play. The keys were sticking down and the sound was late, compared to my finger actions. I even had some mistakes, and I started to be annoyed, why it is happening as I play that piece without any effort and on autopilot mode in real life? The answer came before I finished the piece, the piano actually transformed itself into a kind of an organ, and the piano technique I have was not suitable for it. Well, it stayed tall as an upright piano but it also resembled the small organ, as in the first photo. This instrument also decided to betray me. But again, no hard feelings, I was accepting everything with a smile and wonder actually.

I don't know how, but in one moment the woman who picked me up from the street was sitting on the piano bench instead of me and started to play a classical piece. (It doesn't exist in reality) I was watching the scores while she was playing, and wow - she was doing it very well. Complicated rhythmical figures and triplets in semiquavers appeared in one bar, and the style was a fusion between baroque and romanticism. Not really organ sound, but between the old upright piano and organ. It was a virtuoso composition but calm and majestic at the same time. I still observed the scores and her playing, but then it finished. My dream was over, or at least, I don't remember what happened later. I think it finished there as I opened my eyes so that was it.

For those who read my dream - congratulations and thank you for taking your time. For those who didn't, it is also ok, as there is something else in this post, not just my dream.
Triggered by the piano that transformed itself into an organ, I remembered I have some photos of that instrument. The first photo, the small organ was taken in Altea, in the entrance area of one concert hall.

The photos you will see in the continuation are taken in one church, but I can't reveal where, as there would be a question for those who like to play a guessing game today!!

So let's see how this organ looks. It has two keyboards, many buttons to change registers and pedals for the feet.

IMG_20220707_191639.jpg

The organ is an instrument that has tubes from where the sound comes out. Every key has a preselected tube from the keyboard, so if I press a key or a pedal, a turbine blows the air to the tube that corresponds to that key, and the sound is produced.

IMG_20220707_191920.jpg

The tubes are behind the place where the organ player sits. When you play it and choose a loud register, who whole church can hear it loudly... well, you too :D

IMG_20220707_192025.jpg

I had the opportunity to play exactly this organ several times. I didn't use the pedals though. However, I have to tell you that this instrument is not in great condition, it needs to be fixed but there is nobody there in the area who could do it. It is not a big town, not a big and important church so those who would know to fix it are not bothered to come and waste their time. The organ in this church was already changed once, in the past. The first one was built in 1795 by an organ maker Caspar Fischer. It was replaced by the second organ, which is shown in the photos.

When?

That is my question for you today :))

mipiano_banners_strip_gimp.png

Can you guess the year this organ was built?

mipiano_banners_strip_gimp.png

The first who gives the correct answer will be the winner. If there is no correct answer, the winner will be the person with the closest guess. I will announce the correct answer and the winner in a few days :)

If you don't like this question, but you still like to try to guess a music-related topic, you can visit the post by Whywhy and make your guess there :)

Have fun!!

Was it 1901?

The music in your dream that doesn't exist really should be documented, by the way :)...

Hi there @wrestlingdesires

Thank you for your guess. The answer will be announced soon, so stay tuned :)

And thanks for the support :)

I am going to be super precise and say 1760, it's impossible that I've cheated therefore I won!!!!

I can't remember my dreams, but it's a good thing trust me!

Hahaha, no, you didn't cheat, it's Jacky The Handsome who helped you :p

His guess will be noted down, and if he wins, a visit to Albir would be his reward :)

Ok full disclosure I might have cheated a little 😄

I love when I'm able to remember dreams. Even more when I have lucid dreams, which hasn't happened in a while unfortunately. You remember quite a lot of this one!

This organ was obviously built in the year 1890. I can tell by the engraving on the lower ballathrustra. In fact, I will go as far as to guess the builder was Rupert Murklin, son of the great Joseph Merklin, who built the organ of the Murcia cathedral.

The triple scherzen is a telltale sign of his work.

Did I win?

Wohooooooo, you made some extra effort to find as much info as you can. 🙌
I take off my hat!

Though, I can't tell you whether you are right or not at this moment. The answer will come in a few days :)

Cathedral in Murcia - I visited it once, really a great place with a huge organ, loved that visit 🙂

Thank you muchísimo for your guess, it is noted down now! 😉

😄 haha I'm sorry lead you on...I made all of that up, haha , "ballathrustra"?

Scherzen means joke

I did throw in the Murcia cathedral and Joseph Merklin for believability.

Was it convincing?

Well, I commented only on Murcia part and Merklin I did check hahaha, so yeah, bastante convincing as you matched them with the city :))

But what do I know, ballathrustra maybe means something in some Spanglish hahah? though it was something that even the translate couldn't recognize 😂
Also, it could be a typo on your part?

Still, it's your effort to search for info or make the words up. Everything is acceptable and appreciated here for the guessing game 🥳

You gave your guess for the year, so in a few days, we will see if it was correct or close or not that close 😉

Hi @mipiano, how are you? Very interesting and beautiful organs you show in your pictures, they made me remember one I had many years ago, with two Wurlitzer keyboards. At that time I was taking lessons, but I stayed at an elementary level.
I didn't read your dream, because I have a little headache and right now, I don't have to fix my eyes too much.

You had an organ at home? That's nice! ;)
No worries, it is a long read, and I know when a headache hits. Get better soon, and thank you for stopping by @tiaene 😇 🎶

Thanks @mipiano,
I'm already recovered from the headache. A hug

Good to hear that 🙂

Looks like a lovely organ - I love the sound of church organs, its a pity no one can fix it. There are a few things on that organ that are making me think 1930s - so I'm gonna go for 1932 !
!LUV

The sound of church organs can be really powerful if it is a good organ and the church has a good acoustic. Thank you for your guess :)
The results are still not to be revealed, but I will let you know when the guessing period finished 😉

Wow!... This is an interesting story and very well written, very fluent writing and very pleasant to read... I'm impressed by the detsails level and insights you remember from your dream... That is not something common I think! ...It almost feels like you were there!...Excellent lines...Very writing talent in you! Congrats!!!...I hope you keep remembering some dreams!...✍

Thank you @jlinaresp :)
There were many details and I was so happy I remembered them. It was a morning I woke up pretty late, but without any hurry. My dream was not interrupted by the alarm so it stayed there, with me.
But I would just like to have better writing skills so as to be able to describe better and with more diverse words the happenings and the details from the dream! I am glad you liked the writing though :))
Thank you once again and greetings! Have a great weekend and dream a lot!

Well, many writers would like to have dreams like this frequently! :)) ... I loved the way you wrote it!... Greetings and also happy Sunday @mipiano friend!

I remembered your Apocalypse dream...do you know that I dream about chaos and death too? Shares it on another platform. It says, when you dream about death, something you are dealing with will soon end. Our dreams also depend on our emotions and current mental state. If we are anxious, we tend to dream weird and bad ones.

Btw, that organ really looked so old. But I like its appearance. Happy Sunday Mi 😊

So you dreamed also about death? Wow, that's contagious 😬😂
In my place we had a believe that when you dream that someone will die, you prolonged his/her life :)
But I don't think we can that simply conclude that in every case it means the same. But I think that dreams indeed are connected to our emotional and mental state. Even physical state. For example, when my husband was sick and had fever he had very strange and bad dreams.

Yes, the organ is a bit old, but you don't want to make your guess with a number? The year when it was made?

Thank you, and happy Sunday to you too. I guess it's already midday or afternoon at your place? It morning here 🌄 ;))

17th century, maybe just after 1744 I would guess. And I am impressed by how well you remember your dreams.

There was a hint, about the date of the first organ ... and this is actually the second one already :D

Ok, maybe in a dream it can happen that the second organ is built before the first lol

We like weird, so it could be a good guess :))))

The dream was super detailed, I remembered all, just don't have the vocabulary to describe nicer all the things from that room...

Lol my bad for researching pipe organs and not finishing the post.

So now I looked a bit closer and read that 1795 was the first. This one has an electric cord which I also missed so that narrows it down to 1897–1970s and then it was probably installed after WWI and prior to WWII. So my second guess 1927.

Ok then, this second guess will be noted down :)

I still have no clue what is the connection between the songs you posted 🤐

Not even with the hints on language, the name of the soundtrack and saying stop starring at your feet? I think I dropped another in the comments about "A Walk in the Park."

I did learn a lot about pipe organs btw, your challenges are very educational 😇

Oh wow! When I see this kind of beauty, I couldn't stop think about odds. I mean, can you imagine this glorious instrument used by (let's say...) Michael Jackson or Prince? Lovely!!

hahaha, no, I can't imagine they play it. Yeah, indeed too odd :))

No guess for the year when the organ was made? You can participate in the guessing game as you can't lose anything if you throw a number 😇

They are so cool, such organs.
I learned to play on a harmonium. You had to peddle with your feet to blow up the air, what would go through the instrument and when I pressed the piano 🎹 keys… you would hear the sounds. But that is many many many moons ago hahaha.
I would say 1899 🤩😊

Good evening and night night @mipiano 👋🏻 Have a great Sunday!

A harmonium, yeah, I know, the pedalling part to blow the air 😄
It is fun, but you know, I use my right foot to use the sustain pedal on the piano, and on the harmonium, we pedal with both left and right foot for that air hahaha. Strange feeling, but can be learned quickly :)
I am glad you also learned it! I do remember that you play different instruments. Well, played maybe ;D

Ok, thank you so much for your guess, I am just noting them down, the time of the revelation will come in a few days. :)

Yep, like that. Both in a different lantern to get the sounds. After that keyboard was easy hahaha 🤣
Not sure if I could play it now anymore. Likewise with the bugel (a slightly different kind than trumpet) it is all soooo long ago.
I do have other hobbies now 😊😎 like moving hahahaha 🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤪😋 silly me.
Hope soon we settle down.
Our plan to move next month is taking shape 🥳🎉 yay. This coming week last decisions are taken.

That’s cool, keeping an eye out for it 🤞🏻🍀
Night night!

Lol, different hobby - moving 🤣
I know 😉
Next week will be crucial in the decisions? Isn't it exciting? 🤩 Probably it is, I see you continued without sleeping for some hours 😆 🤗
I had to go yesterday "earlier" to sleep, already woke up... And I dreamed but imagine what, the alarm that woke me up made me forget the dream I had. In a second I knew I was dreaming and then the annoying alarm sound ⏰⏰ and it went away 😔 and I don't remember it now 😔
That transition between the two states of my mind happens too quickly and I can't "save" well the dream ahahaha

Morning morning 🌅🌄 🎶🎹

Yep hahaha 🤣 with me moving so much it did become almost a hobby hahaha !LOL

It is truly exciting, so much to do and arrange. With the answers of this week. We can finalise everything. So exciting times it is 🤩🤩
I was so busy yesterday during the day and mostly out. So I had no time for hive, only just before bed…
If I leave it too many days, I won’t catch up hahaha 🤣
Still catching up now. 🤓😉 but all good.

Good to hear you did go “earlier” for us… to bed. That’s such a shame. When one dreams and is rudely awakened by the alarm clock. Than that dream is gone.
I think most people have that. Especially when one still sleeps deeply when the alarm clocks goes ⏰⏰⏰

Have a wonderful Sunday @mipiano
Morning, I just made it before noon 👋🏻👋🏻☀️☀️

Did you hear about the Scooby Doo villain who became an Olympic swimmer?
He would have won, if it weren't for all those medaling kids!

Good luck with the next week and answers and decisions!!! 🤗

I know, it's pretty hard to catch up when we leave the comments for some days. I can't catch everything, and then days are passing, I engage on newer posts and comments and other people and then it happens that there are comments I never catch up with 😔 and it feels bad if I go back to someone a few days later (or never). Where is our time machine? Making the days longer? 😂

Maybe I have to make it in my dream 😂

Thank you so much @mipiano 👋🏻😊 let’s think positive ✨

I so know the feeling, but you know what. We so do our best. And the people we are interacting with do know that. 🤓 so I think it is ok. They will tell us when it isn’t. We are amongst the active people… don’t forget that. Some never even engage…
But I do understand that it does make us feel bad, when we skip some.
We do need some kind of time machine… but we haven’t found all parts yet. Hehehe 🤭 and still working on designing it. Think it will take a little longer to built. 😉🤓

Maybe that’s the plan, and also that when you are on Hive in your dream, so you will catch up all in real life 😎🤣 perfect plan!

Have a wonderful evening 👋🏻 And a happy new week… it will be magical and exciting 🤩
Night night 😴😴

So, are you enjoying the weekend in the dream again😅, Interesting story ma'am, and may your weekend today be beautiful but not in dreamland

Maybe I am dreaming or I see two of your comments lol 🤣

Aduhh, it's a ma'am network, always just problematic, from last night

No worries, I was just joking 😉
I know that sometimes a comment can appear twice 🍀🍀🍀

It's rainy season, internet connection is always difficult, maybe I also have to work in dreamland😅

So, are you enjoying the weekend in the dream again😅, Interesting story ma'am, and may your weekend today be beautiful but not in dreamland

Yes, dreams are here again 😇
This time more detailed and without apocalypse 🤣

Haha, that's cool ma'am

And no guess from you for the question? You can't lose anything by trying to make a guess 😄

🤣🤣🤣, You are indeed amazing ma'am

Fabulous! I love Organs too... I wish I could play them💯

Very similar to the piano :)
But at the same time different 😉

Oh... That's cool👌

This organ is vintage. Haha, your dream is really something good thing you still remember it when you woke up. Me?!, always forget my dream after my slumber.... Haha so funny.
This piano organ might have been played by great pianists of its time. Of only it can speak I bet it won't ran out of great tales to tell.

I don't always remember my dreams, but for this one, I was more than happy, and the feeling that I remembered so many details was also great 😇
