Resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die

in DBuzz2 months ago

Look, holding onto resentment? That’s basically like chugging down a bottle of poison and then just sitting there, arms crossed, waiting for the other person to keel over. Yeah, makes zero sense, right? Mandela (or whoever actually said it—quotes on the internet are a wild west) nailed it with that one.

People love to think their anger is some epic punishment, like, “Ha! Take that, jerk!” Meanwhile, the person you’re mad at is probably out getting tacos, living their best life, not even thinking about you. Meanwhile, you’re the one getting ulcers. Resentment doesn’t hurt them—it just eats you alive from the inside, messes up your sleep, your mood, your Spotify playlists... everything.

Honestly, the only way to get free? Drop the grudge. Not for them, for you. Forgiveness isn’t about letting someone off the hook, it’s about tossing that emotional backpack full of bricks into the ocean and finally standing up straight. Trust me, revenge fantasies are overrated. Liberation feels way better.
