I would think it is more cost effective to store data on #HIVE but not sure.

P.S. I kind of suspect that https://GameCredits.org will do this since it was announced that they partnered with Splinterlands (speculation).

I do believe that it will be cost-effective to store data on Hive, but the problem is about who will actually implement that functionality.

I want that functionality, coupled with file encryption for its users' privacy.

But like you mentioned earlier, users should be allowed to erase the data that they stored on the blockchain 👍

Yes. That is why it is not a good idea to store data on the blockchain for privacy reasons, and it is also not feasible to delete data from the blockchain without breaking the chain.

Even with encryption, the metadata of the data stored on the blockchain (which is public) tells a lot about the person storing the data and the data themselves. Coupled with lack of ability of people who uploaded data to delete their own data themselves, privacy is at risk.

Ah type of metadata is usually stored on HIVE?

And what is the best way to describe what #metadata is?

Metadata is best described as "data within data that describes data". It contains information about the data itself such as who posted the data (and who its recipients are, if applicable), the size of the data, and the time the data was created or sent.

Therefore, if the surveillance entities cannot understand the data itself due to encryption, they will be able to tell a lot about it when other facts about their targets are combined together using their very powerful supercomputers.
