There haven't been any withdrawals of Hive or HBD from Bittrex in 3 days. They ...

... still have over 1 million Hive and 100k HBD since trading was closed. I suspect that amount will be now stuck until the end of bankruptcy proceedings.

Once it was a great exchange. Sad to see its demise.

Are they going to just take the money or is it going to stay frozen?

I am not close to the matter so I don't really know the details, but I expect that it will be dealt with in the bankruptcy. Based on how these usually go, it will probably be sitting idle for months or even years, and eventually it will probably be sold for the benefit of creditors/depositors.

By the way, why are they even bankrupt? Did they invest customer funds in a scam or something?

It doesn't seem like anything like that. As far as I can tell they just aren't able to run the business profitably.

@bdhivesteem is the Binance account

That's a lot.

It's 0.3% of the whole Hive supply, so a lot but not likely to be systemically important.

Whoever owns that.

What might really be going on

Very important news @demotruk thank you for all the much needed information you share.

hah anyone who had hive or hbd on any exchange SHOULD loose it by rulesnof the blockchain, after what happened to steem and binance, we must punish those who are iresponsible and stop bailing out stupid money. we need survival of the fittest rules on hive to survive! sorry if u werestupidlol

not you but in general to anyone to left hive on bittrex during its virtual exit scam (essentially what youll experience as end user, having ur money stolen and maybe given back after like 10 years and more time spent on paperwprk than is worth the money lol)

Of course this is not good news, there was volume coming from here but now this exchange is closing people should now move to other exchange and do their trading there. People need to get their money out of here quickly or it will all be over.

What exactly is the reason for this? 😀

Is this for Bittrex?

My condolences to anyone affected. I want more people to stick to a DEX when they trade their cryptocurrency. But there are things that a DEX cannot fully replace yet. I wish investors will both get their funds back and learn their lesson.

That is A LOT of money to loose. SO SAD.
