Wake to a rainy day. Disappointing as I wanted to ride alternate days. I am not a fan of riding in the rain. I pottered the day away doing not a lot. This lockdown has me really down. All I want to do is get out and ride my bike for a few weeks. It looks like the freedom day for the unvaxxed just got pushed back to December 15. Time to break more rules. I am less risk than a vaxxed person doing normal things.
I took the umbrella and walked. First shot is of a dung beetle - not seen one here down under. New buds on bonnet orchid
Then this fungus - red stinkhorn - spreads widely

First time walking this track since the track work was finished. The orchid colonies on the low side of the hill have been wiped out

I am guessing that it will be at least two years before we see orchids recover through this sterile clay on the side of the track

Did find a few bearded orchids gone to seed on north side. Only ever seen them on the other side maybe because I always focus on the uphill side

Was a long walk back to find evidence of orchids on south side - not a lot left but this one is close to opening

It rained a bit - did not find an orchid open but enough to come back. The trackwork really depresses me as a source of great orchids has been set back hard - last count was 18 types.
