Rain, Rain, Rain go away : July 3 2022

The East Coast Low formed and sucked in the rain. And it rained almost all the day. Perfect day for doing accounts - focused on writing up last week's trades and getting the blog post drafted.

The lorikeets were a bit damp and calling for food. As there were no king parrots around I put food out. I am guessing this huge rain and wind hammers bush food.

Flood water building up on the back fence - not as bad as last time - just one photo. I made sure the channel along the fence is clear so the water does not flood the neighbour's kitchen.

Was determined to walk - took the umbrella and walked to check Lovers Jump Creek. Water was running in torrents down the streets and all 3 of the big pipes running. Not seen that in the 12 years I have lived here

Had to make the video as the noise was amazing.

Two creeks join just above the bridge which creates a bottleneck. A friend suggested a good spot for a hydraulic generator. It is, as the creek flows always.

These leaves are a hoot. They land and fold face down with stalk in the air

Next bridge up the creek is still within the banks.

We have a guest coming over for dinner. Grevilleas from the garden for a decoration.

Simple dinner idea - duck breast, roasted veges and potatoes. Cheese plate to keep the diners going until chef is ready

I chose to sous vide the duck breast. Season top with salt, and underside with salt, black pepper and fresh thyme leaves. Recipe said prep was 5 minutes - took more than 5 to do the thyme leaves from the garden. Sous vide time - two hours at 130F.

Veges - duck fat baby potatoes, duck fat roasted balsamic brussels sprouts, roasted pumpkin - all done in two airfryers at 180C. Brussels are sliced in half, seasoned and take 10 minutes. Side of boiled beans.

Duck is finished in frying pan in a little oil. 5 minutes skin side down and turn over and do meat side for 3 minutes
