Ma3str0's Environment Cleanup Walk: Oct 25 2023

in Actifitlast year

Heya Hiva シ

Ready or not, here I come..

-> from finding buried treasure!

Adventure afoot!

There's a old saying.. that 'one man's trash is another man's treasure'. Ok.. perhaps my environment cleanup adventures are somewhat of a loose fit. Afterall, I have no intention of keeping any of the trash found. With that said.. each discovery still equates rather well to locating something sought after - the bin being its eventual treasure chest. Onward then, treasure awaits!

Before..

After..

Upon my arrival to the wetlands, I encountered an empty 'party pack' of one of my favourite snacks. Alas, seeing the remnants discarded like that.. certainly didn't leave me in a mood to party.

Before..

Cleanup..

After..

Is it treasure? Well, I was seeking hard to find items.. and this lone shoe certainly did fit that description. Ok, maybe not in the traditional sense.. but what a great reward it is to rid the environment of another piece of unsightly trash.

Cleanup..

After..

Next up appears to have been a transparent plastic lid for some sort of food container - you know.. the foil kind. I've also seen similar lids on cardboard boxes as well, like the type cherry tomatoes often come in - so there's that possibility as well.

Before..

Cleanup..

After..

That shard of glass blended in with the surrounding landscape (being green in colour). Good thing I have 'eagle eyes', and was able to get to it before anyone unintentionally hurt themselves.

Before..

Cleanup..

After..

I found this large brown paper shopping carrier on the 'Brigantine River Trail'. Although all litter is of course terrible.. I'd much rather find paper bags than plastic. I really wish the latter was no longer manufactured.

Before..

Cleanup..

After..

The plastic bottle caught in the foliage required prompt extraction. Around this time, someone from the mountain came up from behind me. Thankfully, he passed by with no incident.

Before..

Cleanup..

After..

When the perceived element of potential danger had somewhat passed, I was able to also get to this empty tube of toothpaste.

Before..

Cleanup..

After..

Further along the trail, a plastic yogurt container required picking up. It was around that time, when I decided to head back toward civilization.

Before..

Cleanup..

After..

It turns out, that there was still more to find. This polystyrene cup was wedged in some loose sand. When I collected it, there were a couple of snails inside - which I safely left behind for obvious reasons.

Before..

Cleanup..

After..

With the nearby bins so empty, I had to wonder how this piece of litter became as such. Guess, I'll probably never know.

Before..

Cleanup..

After..

The most curious piece found today, was that of a book. This final item had some scribbled writing within its pages (by pen).. though I could not make any sense of it. All that was left to do, was thus bag it with the rest.

Before..

Cleanup..

After..

All the 'finds' for the day were placed into one of the nearby municipal bins - ready for collection. Another hugely successful day. With each passing cleanup adventure, it is becoming more and more tricky to find litter - positive proof of a job well done!

Till next time,

great job cleaning up trash on your walk

I always carry a plastic bag with me in my camera bag, and often end up using it to collect the rubbish I see on walks

Thanks for joining the Wednesday walk :)
