First day of March: A short scare for Rene's eyes

in Actifit4 years ago

The last few days in Kuala Lumpur was really hot. There was hardly any wind and our living room fan broke down.

We have been trying to catch the air flow from fresh air of the corridor or from the balcony, not realising this brought complications to Rene's coreas.

Suddenly on Thursday night her eye started showing signs of bloodshot redness and her right eye started tearing. She tried to use her usual eye drops from her surgeons, but it wasn't fully recovering.

Then came Sunday morning, when Rene's sight started getting very foggy.

We started to notice her eye no longer was as clear as usual.

Our daughter managed to find out that we can go straight to the Emergency room even though Rene's records were based on the left eye.

This wasn't the first time we experienced Emergency room because of Philip's near death experience in November 2018; and like any other government hospitals, it is swamp with sick people and we waited for hours.

Rene had to undergo a Saline wash for her right eye before she can be tested for scar tissues using florescent testing.

It was quite painful for her during florescent test. Our daughter dared not take a photo during the wash because it was even more bloodshot.

However after 7 long hours of waiting (because the patient before us had a dire situation where his foot stuck in the floor trap of his bathroom and his main vein in on his right foot was damaged and they almost couldn't stop the bleeding immediately) we were asked to head straight to the opthalmology ward rooms to see the on call specialist.

Really thank God for the ER doctor who consistently checked on us to see it was our turn or not. He was very kind and very responsible. He didn't end his shift just because it was time and waiting with us while he attended to other patients and came back to check on us.

Good thing our daughter brought along some raisins and nuts snacks and 2 hot cross buns for Rene. Otherwise it will be hard for us to walk in and out to find food.

By the time the specialist came to check on her, thank God her sight was slowly returning.

It is now confirmed that her right cornea also had a small scar and its condition is just a matter of time before she needs her right eye transplant.

It will cost us USD 525 per eye just for transportation, because the donor is from USA. The government can't afford to subsidise the logistic fee, so we must find a way to set aside another USD 525 in the future.

With political instability and market and forex weakening for Malaysia, God will need to be our miracle

All in all it wasn't an entire gloom day. On our way home we met a young 16 year old who's been in and out of hospital for 4 years due to fungal foot infection that refused to leave this boy alone despite all hygiene procedures done.

Philip decided to share his testimony that his decade long corn problem and near gangrene situation for his middle toe that recently stop returning after our daughter prayed over for a few times and totally forgotten about it.

Our daughter offered prayers for the young boy, who's name is Samuel, and we will just trust God for His healing hands right now on this young boy that one day he will be able to walk and run normal again without worries of further infection.

Who knows, at such a time like this, the 7.5 hours in the ER, at 7th floor, there's a purpose for us being there.

Even in discomfort, God is still good. He sent His most patient and caring doctors and nurses for Rene and in return, maybe just for a divine encounter for young Samuel.

His plans are always higher than our plans. His ways are always higher than our ways.

We will only wonder. And we can only trust Him that good will continue to come.

Best wishes,
Philip and Rene
