Hello everyone π,
Happy hump day ππ and a very warm welcome to my world π. Its yet another 24 hours to be grateful for π―, I guess it's time to say Merry X-mas and happy holidaysπΉ. I have had a great day and as it draws to a close am raring to go with my stepping activities and also share what's trending in the media streets. As always thank you for reading and let's get cracking π¨.
I kicked off the day with a few rounds of brisk walking around the neighbourhood. It was a beautiful sunny π morning as I made my way. I did enjoy my walk and was back indoors an hour later. I then rested for a while, caught up with emails, watched the news and then the usual chores around the house.
My next stepping came later in the afternoon going to the shopping centre for some groceries. Still a beautiful sunny day as I made my way. It was nap time when I got back indoors, I woke up some time early evening and got on with the cooking, watching a little bit of news and youtube .
Next came the evening or sunset walk, it looked like it would rain but it didn't and I made it back home safe and sound. Now let's quickly look at what has been trending in the news today.
Locally, the usual political shenanigans kept goingπΉ.
In Gambia, authorities said they had prevented an attempted coupπ, the govt has asked people to remain calm.
Globally, let's start in the US; president Zelensky is in Washington DC where he met president Biden for talks. The US administration has pledged more military aid for Ukraine including patriot missiles. The missiles will be of great help in countering Russian attacksπ―.
President Zelensky will address Us congress and speak to officials.
Across the pond in the UK, thousands of ambulance workers went on strikeπ, the military was called in to help. They need higher pay to match the ever rising inflation.
In Moscow, Putin is to increase the armed forces by 30%π. He had ruled out peace talks with Ukraine, he said as long as western countries keep providing weapons to Ukraine nothing will changeπ.
Afghanistan trending as the Taliban received a backlash for their directive yesterday banning females from all universitiesπ. There were protests in several cities. Lots of condemnation from several countries and activists groups. Hopefully they will rescind that decision, it's really backward and redundant π―. How can you be the only country on the entire planet where girls are denied an education π.
Finally, Australian foreign minister met her Chinese counterpart in Beijing. The two countries looking to mend relations with talks on trade, human rights and regional security π―.
