Happy hump day 🎉 and a very warm welcome to my report. I had another ordinary day stepping it out and as the midnight hour beckons I wanna let you in on how my day went plus some of the trending stories from around the world.
As always thank you for being here, let's slide in💨.
So I woke up to some dull drizzly 🌧️ morning here in London. That morning chill and rain shortened my morning walk drastically😿.
I was using an umbrella but the bottom of my trouser got so wet from the sideways drizzling I had to get back indoors.
Throughout the day it's been raining on and off but later in the evening I managed to squeeze in another walk. I was in the grocery store then decided to head up the same road for a while before heading back indoors.
I can't wait for the summer next month😹.
So that was the stepping and now let's take a look at what has been trending.
The biggest story in the UK is PM Rishi Sunak has called for a general election on 4th of July. He will be going one on one with labour party leader Keir Starmer. I don't think Rishi will care if he loses, they say he is richer than the King😹.
The other big story is Norway, Spain and Ireland are to recognize a Palestinian state🙀. Israel is sinking into global isolation as 146 of 193 UN member states now recognize Palestine as an independent state.
World bank has said Palestine meets criteria of state with material institutions since 2011. Malta and Slovenia may be next in recognizing Palestine.
Palestinians say statehood recognition is an important step and proves Israel is an occupier🙀.
Israel is definitely not happy and has recalled it's ambassadors from the three European countries. They call recognition of a Palestinian state as rewarding of terrorists🙀.
Meanwhile, Israel continued its intensified airstrikes across Gaza. Hitting areas in the north, central and south. Several deaths reported. The death toll since October 7 last year is now at 35,709😭.
Across the pond in the US, president Biden welcomed Kenyan president to the white house. Kenyan police are going to be sent into Haiti to maintain peace😹. Quite ironic, they are needed more in Kenya.
Also trending, Biden cancelled $7.7 billion more in student debt for 160,000 borrowers. What a relief from paying pesky loans that bother so many people and reduce their income.
