This morning started out bright and sunny. I was all geared up for getting a lot done, so I made me a delish green smoothie to get me going.
The plan was to get my plants and trees watered down early and then get buzy baking for Fridays market.
I had to snap a few photos of my kukui nut tree to share with you . It's going to be loaded down this year and already has lots of nuts on it.
I plan to get an oil extraction machine and make kukui nut oil. It makes a great carrier oil for essential oils.

The Kukui tree is the official state tree in Hawaii and is an important part of Hawaiian History. It is one of a number of canoe plants as the Polynesians brought the seeds here in a canoe.
The Hawaiians use every part of the kukui tree. They use the trunk to build canoes, the oil from the nuts to coat their fisherman nets and to illuminate candle pods.

The outer shell if the nut is used as natural tattoo dye. The oil can be used as topical dressing for massaging muscles, soothing burns, chapped skin and wounds.
The Hawaiians roast and chop the whites inside the nuts and make a spice called lnamona whuch still is a key ingredient in poke, a dish made with raw fish and limu-seaweed.

After I finished watering, I needed to go to town to pickup a package, so I jumped in the shower which fortunately was nice and hot.
This is my bathhouse. The water is heated by the sun and goes to the water heater on top to be stored. If we go for days without sunlight or the palm or poinsettia tree starts shading out the glass, I get to take cold or barely warm showers.
By the time I got back to the cabin from the post office, it was already clouding up a nd misting rain. My energy and motivation level went from high to none..

I totally lost interest in baking so, I changed from shorts and tank top to sweats, long sleeves and my rain jacket and did some photo walking...and that's about it other than normal chores on a farm.

You are blessed to be living around so much green. It seems so alive. Enjoyed.
It started out all lava rocks and invasive Christmas berry tree's..my friend who owns it bought the property 27 years ago and it's still a work in progress. Lotta hard work but we'll worth it. We are creating a food forest and and composting new areas for gardens. And yes, God knew what He was doing went He sent me here.
