Well, it was a very long morning at the lawyers office and it cost me a lot more than I thought it would. I thought it was just a notarized document I needed but it turned out to be legal document explaining my name differences. Long story short to get residency here in Guatemala I need a copy of my Birth certificate, marriage certificate and my criminal history from the FBI (Americans applying for residency in Guatemala) seems pretty straight forward. I ordered all required documents in January and once my sister in the US received them, she had to forward said documents to their perspective State Departments for the official Apostille Stamp all for a large fee! Once that was done they were all sent back to her (4 months later) and she overnighted them to me here in Guatemala. Well, all government documents bear my full legal name. So why would I think the FBI would send back anything different?? 🙄 well, they decided to leave off my middle name on their documents and I now needed a legal protocol (whatever that means) and instead of being the $20.00 US it was a whopping $154.00 US 😳😩 Thanks FBI for costing me so much more money. Ok. Ok. It’s done and tomorrow I get to turn in all my paperwork for residency in Guatemala.
But on a cheerful note there is a religious holiday here in Guatemala (pictured for you) I don’t understand all the religious holidays because I’m not Catholic but it’s a Saints Birthday and every town in Guatemala that Bears His name is celebrating!! San Pedro (saint Peter) There are several!! I live in San Bartolomé (Saint Bartholomew) I have no idea when his birthday is but I’m sooo ready for a celebration to say the least. 😀
