RE: A war of classics

in Music2 years ago

For a long time I didn't appreciate Classical music, like you I would listen to any (almost) genre, but two that never made it to my ears of collection were classical and country and western.

That has certainly changed though, and I love classical music now, albeit I don't listen to it a huge amount, when I do I can immerse myself happily in it for hours.

A few that stand out in my mind would be Pachelbel - Canon In D Major, Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata and Symphony No. 5. There is a Shostakovich one as well, can't remember the name, but quite like it too.

I think there's room within a person for many different styles of music and if they are given a go, a person can find something to like, mostly. There's exceptions of course, I have them too, but generally speaking there's something to like.

You mention some legit musical pieces all of which I like and one of which has some quite significant meaning to me.

Ya I think you are right that there's room within people for lots of styles of music and I guess we all mature in different ways along the way. I used to hate vegetables as a child, love them now. I would not go near spicy food pre 20 years of age, no I seek it out and love it. I guess music is the same and it can take a while to warm to certain genres or appreciate them.
