El día de hoy quiero hablar de una banda, que, a mi criterio, es una de las mejores que tiene Venezuela y antes también quiero agradecer a mi amiga @veronik28dic porque gracias a ella no solo aprendí a valorar las canciones de los cantautores hispanohablantes, sino también, al talento nacional de mi país, ella me instruyó en todo esto indirectamente.

La Vida Boheme es una banda de Rock Alternativo que se formó en Caracas (La capital del país) y al principio estuvo integrada por Rafael Pérez, Daniel De Sousa, Sebastián Ayala, y Henry D'Arthenay. Su música me parece bastante eufórica y te hace sentir muchas cosas al escucharla, pero empecemos con el top:
Today I want to talk about a band, which, in my opinion, is one of the best that Venezuela has and I also want to thank my friend @veronik28dic because thanks to her I not only learned to value the songs of Spanish-speaking singer-songwriters, but also, to the national talent of my country, she instructed me in all this indirectly.
La Vida Boheme is an Alternative Rock band that was formed in Caracas (the capital of the country) and at the beginning was formed by Rafael Perez, Daniel De Sousa, Sebastian Ayala, and Henry D'Arthenay. I find their music quite euphoric and it makes you feel many things when you listen to it, but let's start with the top:
1. RADIO CAPITAL
Esta fue la primera canción que escuché de ellos y aunque al principio no le presté demasiada atención, ahora la tengo casi en repeat, es una de mis canciones favoritas sobre todo por el conjunto de instrumentos que suenan estridente y alegremente a lo largo de la pista. Para mi, cantar esta canción a todo pulmón es una manera de drenar mi energía y pasarla bien. “Gabba Gabba Hey” es un cantico repetitivo que escuchas casi a modo de coro en la canción y esto es una referencia a la banda de punk The Ramones pues es su eslogan o frase representativa. En el video podemos apreciar a cada miembro de la banda sobre los techos de Caracas entonando la canción con gozo, o como a especie de protesta, como queriendo decir algo, ya que tengo entendido que al formarse esta banda bajo la opresión que se vive hasta el día de hoy en nuestro país, usaron su música para expresar sentimientos de disconformidad y crítica hacía los actos políticos que se desarrollaban injustamente, por ello, no solo en este video veremos referencias de este tipo, sino que también escucharemos frases dentro de sus muchas canciones que los enfrentan directamente. Pero bueno, retomando lo del video, podemos notar que está grabado de una forma desesperada, las tomas son rápidas y no se mantienen fijas sino todo lo contrario, así que te hacen sentir un poco de adrenalina, como si por alguna razón estuvieran siendo perseguido, sientes que algo malo está por pasar y efectivamente al final llega un grupo de encapuchados y los secuestra, intentando callarlos porque al parecer no existe la libertad de expresión (referencias políticas). O así percibo yo el video.
This was the first song I heard from them and although at first I didn't pay too much attention to it, now I have it almost on repeat, it is one of my favorite songs especially because of the set of instruments that sound strident and joyful throughout the track. For me, singing this song at the top of my lungs is a way to drain my energy and have a good time. "Gabba Gabba Gabba Hey" is a repetitive chant that you hear almost as a chorus in the song and this is a reference to the punk band The Ramones as it is their slogan or representative phrase. In the video we can see each member of the band on the rooftops of Caracas singing the song with joy, or as a kind of protest, as if wanting to say something, as I understand that when this band was formed under the oppression that is lived to this day in our country, they used their music to express feelings of dissent and criticism towards the political acts that were developed unjustly, therefore, not only in this video we will see references of this type, but we will also hear phrases within their many songs that confront them directly. But well, going back to the video, we can notice that it is recorded in a desperate way, the shots are fast and do not remain fixed but on the contrary, so they make you feel a little adrenaline, as if for some reason they were being chased, you feel that something bad is about to happen and indeed at the end comes a group of hooded men and kidnaps them, trying to shut them up because apparently there is no freedom of expression (political references). Or so I perceive the video.
2. LA PIEL DEL MAL
La Piel del Mal, forma parte del segundo album de la banda, que fue premiado nada más y nada menos que por un Grammy Latino y retomando lo que comenté en la canción anterior sobre las referencias políticas, todo este album es como de protesta, y tanto esta canción como las demás reflejan toda la tristeza, la incertidumbre, la inseguridad y de nuevo las injusticias que se vivían día a día en el país. En este album también se encuentra la siguiente canción:
La Piel del Mal, is part of the band's second album, which was awarded nothing more and nothing less than a Latin Grammy and going back to what I said in the previous song about the political references, this whole album is like a protest, and this song as well as the others reflect all the sadness, uncertainty, insecurity and again the injustices that were lived day by day in the country. 3. VIERNES NEGRO
Aunque la descripción anterior también incluye esta canción y escuché que hablaba un poco sobre el tema del petróleo, lo que me gustaría recalcar de esta pieza es que dentro de su composición hay ritmos del calipso venezolano y me parece increíble como fusionaron estos dos géneros totalmente diferentes y que nada tienen que ver entre sí para hacer esta master piece.
Although the above description also includes this song and I heard that it talked a bit about oil, what I would like to emphasize about this piece is that within its composition there are rhythms of Venezuelan calypso and I find it incredible how they fused these two totally different genres that have nothing to do with each other to make this master piece.
4. LEJOS
Creo que esta canción toca una fibra en todos los venezolanos y sobre todo en los que emigraron, porque de esto se trata. Yo no puedo escuchar esta canción sin llorar, ya que me hace pensar en mi familia, mis amigos y mi país, cosas que tuve quejar atrás forzosamente en un intento de encontrar calidad de vida. La siento muy personal especialmente cuando dice “¿Que estoy haciendo aquí? Pagando para vivir, escogiendo sin opción, lejos de donde nací, escaparme de mi, alejarme de ti, una lejana canción sigue llamándome” esa lejana canción de la que hablan me llama todos los días, porque no hay día en que no extrañe todo lo que dejé en mi hogar.
I think this song touches a chord in all Venezuelans and especially in those who emigrated, because this is what it is all about. I can't listen to this song without crying, because it makes me think about my family, my friends and my country, things that I had to leave behind in an attempt to find quality of life. I feel it very personal especially when it says "What am I doing here? Paying to live, choosing without choice, far from where I was born, running away from me, running away from you, a distant song keeps calling me" that distant song they talk about calls me every day, because there is no day that I don't miss everything I left back home.
5. LA VIDA MEJOR
Escogí esta canción para el top no tanto por el concepto, sino por los recuerdos, justamente cuando escribía este post y escuchaba un podcast de EDN donde entrevistaban a La Vida Boheme uno de los chicos dijo algo parecido a “Es que las canciones son como un album de recuerdos” y Dios mío nunca nada me había parecido tan acertado. Sé que ya he dedicado varias líneas a los amigos que hice en la universidad y soy demasiado cursi e intensa, pero esta canción me recuerda mucho a ellos, porque casi todos amaban a esta banda, y una vez uno de ellos cumplía años, así que todos los demás trabajamos minuciosamente en un video regalo para él, en este video todos hablamos de lo importante que era él para nosotros, y mi amiga Vero, quién lo editó, escogió esta canción como fondo y aunque desconozco la verdadera razón, me pareció una canción muy acertada, especialmente cuando dice “¿Como no voy a llorar si tú te vas?” además que el ritmo es muy alegre y pegajoso como lo éramos nosotros en ese momento de nuestras vidas, jaja.
I chose this song for the top not so much for the concept, but for the memories, just when I was writing this post and listening to an EDN podcast where they were interviewing La Vida Boheme one of the guys said something along the lines of "It's that the songs are like an album of memories" and my God nothing had ever seemed so accurate to me. I know I've already dedicated several lines to the friends I made in college and I'm too corny and intense, but this song reminds me a lot of them, because almost all of them loved this band, and once one of them had a birthday, so all the rest of us worked meticulously on a video gift for him, in this video we all talked about how important he was to us, and my friend Vero, who edited it, chose this song as the background and although I don't know the real reason, I thought it was a very accurate song, especially when he says "How can I not cry if you're leaving? "and also the rhythm is very cheerful and catchy like we were at that moment of our lives, haha.
Y bueno chicos hasta aquí mi top, de verdad espero que puedan disfrutar cada una de las canciones que escogí muy inspirada y quiero que sepan que fue muy dificil escoger solo cinco canciones, porque me he vuelto una gran fan de esta banda que me hace sentir muy orgullosa del talento venezolano. La Vida Boheme definitivamente está en mi lista de conciertos a los que me gustaría asistir, pero díganme ustedes, ¿La conocían? ¿Cuáles son sus canciones favoritas?
And well guys, this is my top, I really hope you can enjoy each of the songs that I chose very inspired and I want you to know that it was very difficult to choose only five songs, because I have become a big fan of this band that makes me feel very proud of the Venezuelan talent. Al igual que tú, está banda significa mucho para mi, y también se me parte el cora cada segundo de la canción "lejos", más ahora que si estamos lejos, testraño mucho chama.
Pero toy felí, porque cada uno está haciendo lo mejor que puede para vivir una vida mejor. Y como has dicho, tenemos un álbum de recuerdos en el que poder refugiarnos alegremente.
