Hello music lovers and welcome in the DAY O, without confusing it with DAY ZERO. Excluding today, we have only 11 days left. How is it possible that two days ago I calculated 10? No Idea. Lets stay with music because we are doing it much better than math, and lets start with number one British legends, Capo Di Tutti Capi of rave, techno, electronic and ambient

ORBITAL

Electronic duo founded by two British brothers - Paul and Phil Hartnoll in 1989, times known as Second Summer Of Love across the whole England and the wider United Kingdom. This term refers to the social phenomenon of the mutual symbiosis of electronic dance music and the prevalence of MDMA, leading to the explosion the new era of hedonism, freedom and raves. The prominent role of Orbital's music is undeniable, laying a strong foundations for the upcoming decades of music, artists, parties, inspirations and mental revolution across the whole globe. They are considered as godfathers of the whole rave culture. Forward-thinking approach since the earliest days helped them to step outside the cliche of repeatable, energetic, jumpy beats known in these times and polish their own style, where a classy UK RAVES are mixed with more intergalactic sounds, ambient and IDM electronique. Twenty long play albums produced by Orbital is undeniable heritage of the whole UK music culture. Below you can listen the greatest vocal ambient tune ever, including dreamy voice of legendary Kirsty Hawkshaw.

ORANGE N BLUE

Orange N Blue is a definition of true music for me and I am not talking about drum and bass supremacy, praising it and lifting it above other genres. It is more about true spirit coming from the deep needs of artistic expression. Simon Day known as Orange N Blue came out from nowhere around 2004, in the times when drum and bass was slowly stepping into the shade, giving more place on the stage for newborn little brother - dubstep. Instead following trends, he established his small, independent label Cintamani, released 5 singles and disappeared without a word, leaving his musical legacy for diggers like us. It is extremely difficult to find any info about him, his past or current activity, there are only few incredibly high quality, emotionally overloaded atmospheric drum and bass tracks. True legacy of Simon Day.

When I got to O there was only one band on my mind and that was orbital, still love them and the first time I heard "chime" I was hooked on them, still gutted I have never seen one of their live performances but chuffed to have been in my clubbing hey days when they came on the scene.

to be honest, at the beginning I wanted to present Chime as a tribute to the first Orbital release ever, but it wouldn't fit into the vision build from the first #a-zmusic post, focused around atmospheric electronic.

Halcyon & On & On was with me for approximately 20 years, heard for the first time in the Bam Margera's CKY2K movie, great combo of jackass and skateboarding footage, supported with even greater music soundtrack, including Bjork, Rammstein, Him, Aphex Twin and Orbital. Thinking about this movie, it could have had a big impact on my musical preferences.
