El folclore es una palabra conjugada que significa saber del pueblo, esto significa que algo folclórico, es lo que pertenece al pueblo y ha sido transmitido de generación a generación a través del tiempo, sin conocer el origen o compositor; es por ello que aparece la palabra anónimo en el autor de muchas de estas obras, sean musicales, danzarias, gastronómicas, entre otras, que significa que no se conoce el autor o compositor.
Folklore is a conjugated word that means to know about the people, this means that something folkloric is what belongs to the people and has been transmitted from generation to generation through time, without knowing the origin or composer; That is why the word anonymous appears in the author of many of these works, be they musical, dance, gastronomic, among others, which means that the author or composer is not known.
Un compositor y musicólogo venezolano llamado Luis Felipe Ramón y Rivera, quien dedicó gran parte de su vida al estudio del folclore no solo venezolano si no a gran parte del continente suramericano, compuso una canción en ritmo de bambuco llamada “Brisas del Torbes”, y el mismo cuenta que en sus jornadas de investigación por los andes venezolanos, el escuchó la interpretación de dicho tema a cargo de unos músicos campesinos, luego el procedió a preguntarles si conocían el compositor de dicha canción, a lo que ellos comentaron que ese tema le pertenecía a todos ellos, pues personas cercanas se lo habían trasmitido; Ramón y Rivera por ser un estudioso del folclore, no le fue nada ofensivo el comentario si no al contrario, sintió alegría porque había presenciado el procedo de folclorización de una obra de él.
A Venezuelan composer and musicologist named Luis Felipe Ramón y Rivera, who dedicated a large part of his life to the study of folklore not only in Venezuela but also in much of the South American continent, composed a song in bambuco rhythm called “Brisas del Torbes”, and he himself recounts that during his research days in the Venezuelan Andes, he heard the interpretation of said theme by some peasant musicians, then he proceeded to ask them if they knew the composer of said song, to which they commented that this theme it belonged to all of them, because people close to them had transmitted it to them; Ramón y Rivera, being a student of folklore, did not find the comment offensive at all, but on the contrary, he felt joy because he had witnessed the process of folklorization of one of his works.
Lo mismo ha pasado con el segundo himno de Venezuela, conocido como Alma Llanera, el cual identifica cualquier venezolano, sin embargo la gran mayoría desconocen el compositor que fue Pedro Elías Gutiérrez, o mucho menos saben que pertenece a una zarzuela y mucho menos en que consiste ella.
The same has happened with the second anthem of Venezuela, known as Alma Llanera, which identifies any Venezuelan, however the vast majority do not know the composer who was Pedro Elías Gutiérrez, or much less know that it belongs to a zarzuela and much less in what she consists.
Una zarzuela es un tipo de teatro musical donde la palabra se alterna con música, el cual posee un origen español. Durante el mandato del presidente venezolano Juan Vicente Gómez, se estimuló el crecimiento cultural criollo en el país. Fue Pedro Elías Gutiérrez, quien era uno de los intelectuales que apoyaban el ideal del presidente venezolano, y era compositor y director de la banda marcial de Caracas, quien llevó a cabo junto a Rafael Bolivar Coronado (compositor de la letra), la composición de esta maravillosa obra que pasó a convertirse con el tiempo en el segundo himno de Venezuela, y es quizás la obra venezolana más conocida en todo el mundo. Pedro Elías por ser director de dicha agrupación pudo llevar su música a toda clase de público, ya que hacía presentaciones en la calle (retretas) o en teatros, lo que facilitó que se volviese tan popular la obra que las personas con el tiempo la hicieron suya a tal punto que es considerada una obra folclórica.
A zarzuela is a type of musical theater where the word alternates with music, which has a Spanish origin. During the term of Venezuelan President Juan Vicente Gómez, Creole cultural growth was stimulated in the country. It was Pedro Elías Gutiérrez, who was one of the intellectuals who supported the ideal of the Venezuelan president, and was a composer and director of the Caracas marching band, who, together with Rafael Bolivar Coronado (composer of the lyrics), carried out the composition of this wonderful work that eventually became the second anthem of Venezuela, and is perhaps the best known Venezuelan work in the world.
