Hoy, 11 de febrero, mi padre está de cumpleaños. Siento que soy una persona afortunada que tiene cosas envidiables, como el hombre rico que presume sus riquezas, hoy presumo de mi suerte.
Éste, mi padre, siempre ha sido un hombre amable y devoto, desde pequeño me crio y se dio a la tarea de mostrarme los cimientos de su fe; hoy que ya no soy niño, más lo entiendo y lo admiro. Porque es incluso —me parece— mejor creer, y si al final de nuestras vidas no existe un Dios, ¿Qué habremos perdido? Y, si existiera Él, ¿Qué habremos perdido o ganado? Lo que creemos tiende a erradicar o confirmar la existencia de lo desconocido, aunque una cosa es cierta: que yo ignore vuestra existencia, no implica que ustedes no existan.
Entonces sí, me parece mejor creer. Por eso hoy levanto la mirada al punto más alto sobre mi cabeza y doy gracias a Dios por la vida de mi padre. ¡Bienaventurado seas, padre! ¡Porque la gracia del altísimo ha extendido tus días de estancia en la tierra! ¡Feliz cumpleaños, @elpastor!
Today, February 11, my father's birthday. I feel that I am a lucky person who has enviable things, like the rich man who brags about his riches, today I brag about my luck.
He, my father, has always been a kind and devoted man, since I was little he raised me and took on the task of showing me the foundations of his faith; today that I am no longer a child, I understand and admire him more. Because it is even —it seems to me— better to believe, and if at the end of our lives there is no God, what have we lost? And, if He existed, what have we lost or gained? What we believe tends to eradicate or confirm the existence of the unknown, although one thing is certain: that I ignore your existence, does not imply that you do not exist.
So yes, I find it best to believe. That's why today I look up to the highest point above my head and thank God for my father's life. Blessed are you, father! Because the grace of the Most High has extended your days of stay on earth! Happy birthday, @elpastor!
