Good morning,
This is a song i wrote (and one of my favorites to play), titled 'The blues news reader'.
Written a few weeks ago, it was one i think i'd very much like to get a good recording of.
I find when writing a song, after you have the first line, the entire song seems to write itself.
Here are the lyrics:
I get my news from 50’s blues
But the old men have forgotten when
They used to groove
They broke their backs building railway tracks
Or welding iron on their way to Zion
I listen to, their ritual tunes
I’m transported to and out of the room
As i drift away, i dream of the day
The evil in men is sleeping again
I’m a time travelling, waste of space
I’m victim of the fucking rat race
I see history repeating and i’m outraged
People still killing for a shot at first place
We all lose more than our lives
Everytime we connect they divide
I have one pair of shoes, i’m not a fashion conscious
Brain washed consumer of shit
When i listen to the songs, me and Elvis sing along
I may live in a dream but i know i’m not wrong
This world has been ruind, chasing your profits
I hear you puffing and puffing, i hope you enjoy the coffin
I’m a time travelling, waste of space
I’m victim of the fucking rat race
I see history repeating and i’m outraged
People still killing for a shot at first place
We all lose more than our lives
Everytime we connect they divide
I stopped looking for clues, a way to escape
I found nothing but music has the power over hate
What’s the point in talking when they’ve all been blinded
Sometimes i think their listening, but then i’m reminded
I’m a time travelling, waste of space
I’m victim of the fucking rat race
I see history repeating and i’m outraged
People still killing for a shot at first place
We all lose more than our lives
Everytime we connect they divide
I get my news from 50’s blues
Capo 4

My apolagies for the twiddling on guitar for the intro, im not one for really putting too much into recording, but i will get better at this and learn the art of 'giving a shit', ha. As i di care and as i said, would very nuch like to get a good recording.
I have a few songs on my youtube channel, and a website where im beginning to write up the lyrics, i am in the process of updating and indeed creating a home studio, ill do a post on this as im turning my hallway cupboard into a vocal booth, so that might make an interesting read.

Thanks for reading, and listening, and i hope you give some of my other songs a listen too!
I'll post a song every few days.
Kind regards,
B Good.
Don't worry too much about the recording quality. You have this recording for reference when you can get better gear.
Recording is an art in itself so well done for getting it done for now 🎶🎸👍
The lyrics are on point and thanks for the chords. I might have a go at it myself 😂🎶🎸👍

Thanks, man. I very much enjoy writing, and music in general is my life. I should be up and running recording wise this time next week, but like you said it is in itself an art. Thanks again, man.
You are doing something that can take years to get good at. Be patient with yourself and enjoy the process. Good luck 🎶🎸👍
B Good is my alias I use, soundminds is my imagined band - and where I write 'after the first line, the rest of the song writes itself', was not a drug reference! Ha, just thought I'd add that.
Love the tune.
Sounds to me like you're already achieving decent quality recordings, just need to spend a little more time on your mix.
Learning post-production on your own music can be daunting... your brain will literally hear things with a different bias just because it is your music. If you know anyone else you could record, so you could practice your mixes with someone else's music, it would very likely accelerate your learning.
Just a little friendly, unsolicited advice.
I love what you're doing, can't wait to hear more!
Cool man, thanks. I have to remember why I'm writing and playing, it's for me essentially, I don't think I'll be headlining Glastonbury anytime soon! So, it's a hobby, but one I'm very enthusiastic about. It's a joy to do, and I share it all, the good and bad. It's lovely to hear that someone likes it though, but I have got caught up before and must always pull myself back and say to myself.. 'get a grip, man, it's music! It's an imagined art..' cheers man for the tip too, I think I'll do that, record a friend and try to mix it/ master it.
You got some nice production on this and the lyrics are great. Keep working on those skills.
I think you know how Hive works and it should be fine if you are putting up new stuff. I'll be interested to read about your studio.
Rock on!

Hey man, yeah just cleaned the cupboard out in prep for vocal booth, but I've had to do it on a budget, of not very much! So, it'll just have some carpet in the inside of the door and that'll be it, my vision will never be achieved in regards to carpentry and insulation. But with the monitor screen and some lights, a mic on a boom arm, it'll do. It has plugs in there already, and is a decent space for me to stand and work in with deep shelves for the laptop and soundcard, monitor screen. Will be up and running this time next week. Will leave the monitor screen in there with the mic etc, but the sound card and laptop will have to come out with me and I'll use the TV in the living room, will edit and mix in the living room.
And the recording was done for this song, alter egos and shooting star, in Richards out building.

I enjoyed this, the lyrics are great, telling a good story. In tend of quality, mixing, recording etc are all part of the learning process. Plenty of people here who are happy to help each other out with such tech.
I’ve reblogged your post.

Thanks, man. Yeah, I'll have the bits I need for recording on garage band this weekend (soundcard I already own, I just need to update my mic as mine has ceased to work, too many open mics!), So I'll re-record all the songs on my YouTube, plus others, all except for 'bring me love' which was recorded, more or less, professionally at my friends @purplesinger
