I wrote this song today inspired by our Prime Minister's latest 'catchy' slogan. Some lines came to mind and expanded into a song. I initially thought it could be a rap, but that is not a genre I am comfortable with and so it turned into more of a Neil Young protest song. I am playing my Benford Telecaster for #TeleTuesday.
Here are the lyrics:
Stay alert, stay alert
There's a bug going round that's put us on edge
Can't talk to your neighbours except over the hedge
Can only speak to the family in a video room
But use the phone for your granny, cos she doesn't Zoom
Stay alert, stay alert
Keep your distance to stop the spread
2m or so to help free up the beds
That's about 4 cubits for classical types
Wash your hands with some soap or some sanitary wipes
Stay alert, stay alert
Boris has had it, but he's still the boss
The rest of his lot are a total loss
They ran down the NHS for ten years
Now we all pay the cost in heartbreak and tears
Stay alert, stay alert
The idiot in the Whitehouse thinks it's all so unfair
It should be about elections and his fellow billionaires
This nasty Chinese virus could mess up his plan
To be the first two term presidential orange man
Stay alert, stay alert
But something gives me hope, it's community spirit
Looking out for each other as we try to get through it
Maybe we don't have to go back to what we had
If we care about the future then it won't be as bad
Stay alert, stay alert, give a damn about the world

Excellent composition dear friend @steevc you say great truths, as always politicians use these situations for their campaigns, no matter what really happens to the people.
It is sad that we have to communicate with our loved ones via the web, but we do it to stay safe and for the love we feel
Undoubtedly the hopes are in the people who take the situation seriously, the mistake of few can be fatal for many.
I appreciate these letters that make people reflect
I wish you a great day
Not bad man! It will be nice if the voice is a little louder.
I know it was not ideal. Still working on the audio setup. Cheers
What program you use?
I record with guvcview on Linux, but the audio mixing is done with an analogue mixer plugged into my mixer, so I cannot fix the balance afterwards. For now it's a matter of trial and error :) I plan to get a better interface with more inputs, but will have to see how that helps.
Try Reaper. Its free 60 days and go in Linux.
Also you can record separetly guitar and voice under metronome, than record video and delete video sound and set record sound.
I did it in this video.

Fist we recorded, mixing and mastering melody and second we synchronize hand with music and add some videos) This I make on Reaper.
I have Ardour for audio recordings. I'm only doing videos for fun and I'm not really interested in miming. I could do some editing of the audio for better results
I haven't yet listened to the PM's latest address, but now I don't feel like I need to haha.
I didn't watch him either as he annoys me. Matt Lucas does a good impression. Just need to vent that frustration somehow.
Very nice! You did very well with that one. As much as I enjoy your covers, I think I like these original pieces more.
Glad someone likes them. I am trying to be original, but it's a matter of when inspiration strikes.
Hahaha Presidential orange man! Stay alert everyone!
Going to have to myself a little mic stand/holder actually. I just prop mine up on my studio monitors but should probably get that sorted lol!
@stav gave me this mic arm. It's great as it takes up no room and I just pull it out when I need it. Having to set too much stuff up just kills the vibe. Actually my interface and bass came from him too. He buys a lot more kit than me.
...and delighted to see that its being put to great use!
Nice! I have just built up the kit and added to it over the years and you find out what stuff you need to supplement your music the more you use it! I try to keep things minimal but then the "you never know" voice kicks in haha
