Pop Classics (edition 5) - Blondie

in Music2 months ago

Debbie Harry aka Blondie

I was VERY young when I saw this blondie for the first time on TV - we had 3 programs nationwide, no mobile, no internet, no CD, no music cassette - vinyl was the only way to buy/play music apart from radio and TV.

I fell in love with her - one could say she might also fit into #RockClassics but to me it is more Pop - agree or not.

Deborah Ann Harry is an American singer, songwriter and actress, best known as the lead vocalist of the band Blondie. Four of her songs with the band reached No. 1 on the US charts between 1979 and 1981. Born in Miami, Florida, Harry was adopted as an infant and raised in Hawthorne, New Jersey. After college she worked various jobs—as a dancer, a Playboy Bunny, and a secretary—before her breakthrough in the music industry. She co-formed Blondie in 1974 in New York City. The band released its eponymous debut studio album in 1976 and released three more studio albums between then and 1979, including Parallel Lines, which spawned six singles, including "Heart of Glass".

Wikipedia knows best the stats above - I know more what she did with me

My first TV songs in shows

Heart of Glass (watched this with my dad and he also could not stop watching haha - same genes)

Our gorgeous girl is often considered to be queen of punk (no idea why though) - she then came with a kind of Reggae song and more in the following (as part of the band Blondie and solo):

This is my favourite by Debbie and Blondie:

Debbie became an actor and more - did solo projects with Nile Rodgers and even Giorgio Moroder (king of remixes). To me she is one of the grand ladies of entertainment combining a lot of skills.

According to sources she lives in NY with four dogs.

’ve always loved Blondie’s music, and Debbie Harry is such an icon. Her voice, style, and energy made such a big impact on pop music. It’s hard to put their songs into just one genre, and that’s what makes them so special. Reading this really brought back some great memories.

No conocía esta artista, gracias por compartir.

Loved Heart of Glass when I was a kid/teen in the 90s and still love it.

cool, was it the song or the performer :-)

The song :) I didn't even know how the performer looked - I rediscovered this song later, when Youtube emerged.

ok, i got the vinyl from my dad where Debs presence was obvious - after that i heard the song :-)

:) I see. She looks cool, you were probably impressed. :)

I love Deborah's voice. This my first time listening to her music and I find it good.

you should check out more then, Deboarah was a star at her peak time, also playing in movies.

The lady is as beautiful as her voice. Debbie Harry’s charisma and Blondie’s genre blending is and will be timeless.
