Now that fall is under foot and winter is near approaching, I am reminded of the warmer days and nights of summer, when the temperature was hot and muggy, not cold with biting wind. The sun was up late, and rose early in the morning. Now, the sun sets before bed time, and it is still dark when I awake.
These photos were taken over Lake Michigan at the beginning of August 2021. My family and I were fortunate enough to have a wonderful vacation together, and spent quality time relaxing, swimming, walking on the beach, having late dinners, and of course, watching the sun set over the wonder that is Lake Michigan.
The water goes all the way to the horizon, and the colors of the sun are reflected back down on the lake.
A flock of birds are the only creatures that have a better view of the sunset than we do.
Rocks on the front porch that goes right up to the water.
The shimmering sun coming all the way across the lake to our humble summer cottage.
Sometimes the sky is unbelievable. This is one of the most beautiful views of anywhere I have been in the world. And I have travelled to quite a few remarkable places.
There used to be a long beach stretching out over 100 feet. Now, the water level is higher and beach has almost completely disappeared.
The boardwalk used to go right over the beach, but due to rising water levels, the beach is gone, and rocks had to be brought in to keep the lakeside cottages from being consumed by the mighty waters.
