13 April 2020 - Rainstorm in the time of pandemic

That day a strong front came through. We got strong wing and intense rain and before long we lost electric power.

Since the power was gone, so was the fast internet connection. I decided to check out the environment and assess the situation.
In addition, with the pandemic-related measures I was concerned about how long the power would stay out. There were reports coming in from many organizations, including public utilities, that employees were being quarantined due to COVID-19 infection or exposure. Some reports spoke even of ambulance response being delayed, and potentially people suffering longer wait times or even dying because of that. So I had doubts about response to this power outage.
Fortunately, my doubts turned out to be in vain - the outage was rather localized, there was power less than a kilometer from the house, and the outage zone only included a few blocks, or a few hundred houses, and was fixed by the time I got back home after being out for about an hour.
As you can see, the storm was strong enough to rapidly mix the air and down a bunch of tree branches. At this intersection, I stopped briefly to clear some bigger branches off the road.

A pandemic era order: toilet paper made of bamboo. If I remember right, I ordered it because no other kind was available for a short while. These severe shortages were not long in duration, thankfully - I'd say, no more than a couple of weeks. Sporadic shortages have been seen ever since but they have been more of a nuisance than a serious disruption - you may need to go to a different source for something you need when the regular one is not available, etc.

There has always been strong wind before intense rain. I hate strong wind.

Here it sometimes comes at the same time. That is what breaks trees, etc.

Also roofs?

Roofs too.

Most of the roofs here are made of shingles so you rarely get a whole roof lifted but sometimes you hear of roof damage due to shingles being blown off. And sometimes wind causes trees to fall on houses and damage them.

very scary if you are in a place and that place is raining again

I am not sure what you think would be scary.
