Urban Stroll: A Photowalk Through Rochor and Sim Lim

in Photography Lovers9 months ago

I hope you're all having a great time this Friday night! And for those in a different time zone—GM! I believe the Brazilian community is just starting their workday as I write this. It's already around 8 PM here in SG, while BR is about 10 hours behind. I remember this because, whenever I post on Snaps, someone from Brazil often reminds me that we're in different time zones, so they greet me differently. If I say "good morning," they'll say "good night," and vice versa. It's amazing how, despite being worlds apart, we feel so connected here on Hive. So cool!

I think that's enough of an intro for tonight's post, which is about photography. I went on a photowalk along Rochor Canal, all the way to the Sim Lim Square area. I had something to buy at the mall, so I decided to walk there since the weather was quite nice. It wasn’t too warm, and there was a consistent breeze—the kind of weather I enjoy for a leisurely walk.

I’d say the Rochor Canal area is relatively close to the city since it takes only a few minutes to reach Bugis. However, the area is still undergoing major development, with ongoing construction of new apartment buildings. There are still plenty of open spaces, which is probably why commercial activity remains limited. But once development is in full swing, I believe more commercial buildings will follow.

From there, I continued my walk toward Sim Lim Tower and Sim Lim Square.

My mind was so preoccupied during the walk that I missed many good photography spots along the way. I was rushing to get there, worried that I might not arrive in time before some of the shops closed.

Anyway, after getting everything I needed, I took the MRT home from the nearest station, Rochor.

But before that, I stopped by to check out a nearby school. The LASALLE College of the Arts has a really cool architectural design, best appreciated from the school's courtyard.

Time to head back home! Here’s the entrance to Rochor MRT station. I find its modern lines and futuristic design really impressive!

Overall, my photowalk along Rochor Canal and Sim Lim Square was a mix of exploration and errands, but I still managed to appreciate the city's evolving landscape. While I missed some good photography spots, I enjoyed capturing the blend of modern architecture and ongoing developments in the area. I’ll definitely return for a more focused photowalk next time, hopefully with fewer distractions and more time to appreciate the details.
