Last weekend I payed Copenhagen av vistit together with a friend. Our main goal was to visit museums and art exhibitions. Because of the pandemic we haven't really been anywhere outside our own borders. The photos shows pieces of the architecture in the building and rooms housing the exhibitions in Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and the National Gallery of Denmark. I am especially fond of stairs as you will see here.
These photos are from the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. We are in the east wing of the building and has to walk down the stairs to enter the photo exhibition with Diane Arbus who is an American photographer. 150 of her photos are exhibited here. I was here to look at art, but I also found the architecture interesting and worth spending time to look at. Since we arrived a little late and had selected a couple of exhibitions, we missed enough time to see all the buildings and the sculpture park located in the middle. The museum is located by the sea, surrounded by trees and plants that seem well integrated into the buildings. Everything inside and outside is well balanced and fits each other perfectly. Because we were there shortly before closing time we had to walk quickly through the corridors with glass on both sides. It gave the feeling of being in nature. I should have liked to spend more time here.
This museum is considered a masterpiece when it comes to Danish modernist architecture. The way it stands out as a whole in connection with nature creates a spesial feeling. It was build in 1958.
Another museum where not only the exhibitions, but also the architecture amazed me, is the National Gallery of Denmark. The museum is located in the center of Copenhagen in the middle of three beautiful parks. This large building houses 700 years of history of art. The old main building houses art from previous centuries while modern art is located in the newer annex. The photos are from the new part. Wide stairs with cusions are leading downwards to huge windows. When sitting here you look into the park.
The two buildings are connected by footbridges. In this way old and new architecture is connected. This is all done in a very harmounious way. On the last photo you see both buildings connected by the bridge which I am standing on, looking down at installations exhibited by the Korean artist Haegue Yang.
I did look at art, but most photos are actually from the buildings.

I always like straight lines in the architecture, but here the spiral is like the accent of the staircase. It’s really satisfying to see the straight lines of the staircase in combination with these curved ones. The perspective of the other photos is very addictive.
Straight lines are in a way more attractive, but I do think the curves here make a great combination with the straight lines. I think that's what attracted me and made vi stop.
