A week like no other

Having dogs all my life, dog-sitting for a friend is something that I can do, not only effortlessly but with pleasure too. Even if we are talking, not for one little doggie but for four, large sized, guard dogs!

But don't think of Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers, Bullmastiffs or any other of those popular guard breeds. Those fellows are ordinary half breed dogs like the strays you can see roving around the streets of Greece. And even if they look adorable in the pictures (and they actually are) don't be mistaken. They feel very strongly about protecting their home and they can be very intimidating against potential trespassers.

The dogs knew me as a friend of their owners but I had never entered the property alone. As a matter of fact no-one, apart from the family members, had ever pass the gate alone, so a few rapid training sessions were in order, just to let them know that I am part of their inner circle of humans.

Smart dogs, as they are, got the message right away and they accepted me as one of their own, treating me with almost the same affection they show to their owners! So I found myself starting my days with four lovely dogs wagging their tails with joy, as I was approaching them!

After breakfast it was time to walk around the plot and check the fence. Not to see if anyone got in, that was mostly unlike but if the dogs got bored during the night and dug a way out. They hadn't and I wasn't really worried about it but they seem to enjoy the inspection so we kept doing it, every morning.

And I had the chance to take a look at the olive trees and the fruits they are bearing.

After the olive grove it was time to have a walk around the main building which is a distillery. And even if we didn't enter the building itself, there are plenty of stuff outside, to trigger my photographic interest :)

It was the last morning of my pet-sitting duties, that I brought a camera with me and you should know me by now, when I start taking pictures, I find it a little hard to stop, especially when I have so many excuses around me and wonderful, morning light :)

It would have been a major omission not to mention the kitty. The black lord of the plot to watch them all and to rule them all :)

We all know that no matter how many or how clever the dogs are, it is the cat that will take the decisions, don't you agree?

So long guys, I miss you already!

What a heartwarming and lively week! The dogs, the cat, and that golden morning light made your story and photos truly delightful. 🐾📷

In that last photo you can certainly see who's the boss there! 😄

Haha yes :)

It was nice to see this small pack every day, with all the relationships they have with each other!

🐶🐱❤️

Those doggos are stunning beauties indeed! I get it from being scary to enter the property without them. I have a friend who also has a guard dog outside and when I enter with here everything is fine. But going in there alone? Ow hell no, that would be the end of my lower leg.

But nice place to dog sit indeed, do they need more volunteers? :DDDD

Haha no :) I think they are ok for now. But if they ever need more volunteers, I'll let you know :)

They look like friendly dogs, especially the older one. But as you say, don't try it alone... Nice shots of the cat.

Yes they are adorable, once they get to know you but pretty ferocious when a stranger approaches their home!

Thank you for stopping by @goldenoakfarm :)

Amazing creatures and of course photographs Stefane!

Thank you Katerina, I am glad you liked them :)

I agree with you, dogs are typically very loving and loyal, they are also capable of guarding the house even without their owner present, and some other pictures you took are also very nice my friend.
