No special reason

I woke up today thinking about Lisbon. No special reason, just some recollections of the imposing medieval buildings, the vintage tram and the tempered weather :)

I can't tell that I really know this beautiful city but for sure is one of the most interesting capitals I have ever visited!

The Castle of São Jorge is an absolute must for all visitors, if not for the castle itself, at least for the wonderful view over the city! Don't expect to enjoy it alone but you can use the rest of the visitors as elements of your countless pictures you are about to take :)

Just below the castle is Alfama, one of the oldest neighborhoods of Lisbon and as every old neighborhood totally charming. We were lucky enough to find an airbnb right in the middle of it and we didn't regret it at all!

Wandering in a city that is built on seven hills is not a piece of cake, especially when you want to see as more as possible in a limited amount of time. Well I had the best walk in Lisbon sitting comfortably on a lovely seat next to the window of a tram 28. I totally recommend it. Just make sure to choose an hour not too crowded and enjoy the ride!
And it is so fun taking pictures from the window. It gives you the perspective of a basketball player and no one ever notices that you are pointing a camera on them :)

Even when you find yourself a bit further from the city center, Lisbon still has a lot to offer. And although coffee shops and tasca restaurants are less, they are potentially much more interesting!

Just looking all those pictures I begin to get tired :)

I can hardly believe that we went to all those places in just two days and we still had the courage to go for a drink the night! And that I took so many pictures! Those are a fraction of the ones I didn't include in the first post that I wrote about this trip in 2018. I guess most of the things I saw are still the same but some might have changed.

I wonder if there is any hiver in Lisbon for a more recent update!

Ah, I love this post and all these photos of Lisbon! I love Lisbon so so much, epic city with so much to see and do :-) The Seven Hills are quite a challenge indeed though, I might not want to live there for that reason alone :D

In the end we decided to not go to Lisbon this time, we've landed in Lagos, Portugal, to enjoy more of the semi-quiet, it's a lovely smaller city with lots of convenience, sight-seeing, ocean, to enjoy. Hope to share a post with first pictures soon, for now recovering from the travels and enjoying the roof top terrace of our apartment :D

Thanks for sharing this post Stef! <3

Haha, I tried to surprise you but you surprised me instead :)
I have a vague view about south Portugal. I have been to Faro during an one day road trip but not to Lagos. Judging from the pictures on the net it is a solid choice!
Seaside touristic towns always remind me novels of Dostoevsky and lonely, melancholic figures with long coats, walking on the empty beach. Not your case though :)
I wish you have a wonderful relaxing time!

Thanks @fotostef! It's pretty dreamy here, and although touristic towns are not my first choice in the summer, Lagos is a pretty good choice for winter, lots of things to do/eat/see while not seeing many tourists! I'm enjoying myself, en definitley feel like I'm living a novel <3

Still loved your surprise, as Lisbon definitely has my heart <3

Woah you're on a trip!? :)

I really do love seeing the architecture of cities around the world. I've never been to Portugal at all, so greatly appreciate the pictures.

What I have a very hard time imagining is living in a city with that many people. Growing up in western Canada I'm used to so much space. Drive out of Calgary and what do you see? Farms. Miles and miles and miles of farms, on land flat enough you could watch your dog run away for four days.

Haha, flat land is something we hardly see in Crete and although we very often nag about it, especially when we try to cultivate steep hills, we also love it!
I would like to visit Canada some day. I am sure I will appreciate the vastness of the scenery!
