I needed a dose of nature and an unobstructed view, so I went to the closest place that could offer both. The stairs leading up to the castle were just a few hundred meters away, and I climbed them eagerly. I wasn’t planning to go all the way to the top anyway. Just enough to breathe the freedom of an elevated spot and get closer to the early spring blooms.

As I climbed, the town began to look more like a fairytale setting and even the cars resembled children’s toys rather than massive iron constructions. I knew I would find a few blooming almond trees. I visit them every year. But I didn’t expect to see so many flowers even before the official beginning of spring.

A few minutes later I reached the first almond trees. They were standing there as they always do, quietly announcing the change of the season, long before the calendar agrees. The branches were still mostly bare, but the flowers had already claimed their space. White or light pink and so fragile, yet confident enough to appear while winter is still officially in charge.

I stopped there for a while, looking at them and taking a few pictures. It felt like a small reward for the climb. Nothing spectacular, just a few trees doing what they are supposed to do. But sometimes that’s enough. A bit of height, some silence, and the first flowers of the year reminding you that life is always in motion.

The pressure of global news makes me feel a bit silly posting flowers and scenic views. But in dark and troubling times, a little beauty and a little light become almost necessary. They may not change the course of the world or solve the problems we face, but they remind us that something gentle still exists around us.
And at this point that's the best I can do.

All the pictures and the words are mine.

Perhaps I haven’t said it before, but I love the mastery with which you use light in your photos. And yes, it’s the best thing we can do: to focus on the things that truly bring calm… that way it will be reflected in our world.
Thank you very much! I hope you are well. The news from your side of the world are not good either.
No, that’s why I’m telling you. Because I’ve noticed that if I focus on my own things and don’t fight against what I can’t control, then it feels manageable. Just make sure to keep yourself healthy — that’s the most important thing in life to be able to face whatever comes.
True.
Don’t feel silly in posting photos of flowers etc! We all need the light in these hours of darkness.
Thank you for saying that!
