First of all, I'm going back to Iceland in less than 2 weeks! I bought the tickets a couple of days ago. That was really a spontaneous decision but hey, a volcano eruption doesn't give too much notice in advance. Hopefully, I get to see what I missed the last time when I was in Iceland. I am going only for 2 days basically, arriving early on 22-nd August and leaving on 24-th morning. The plan is to only stay on the Reykjanes peninsula where the eruption happens, go see a volcano site and on another day do some more hiking nearby and maybe see some locations that I still haven't seen. Of course, I need that the eruption doesn't stop until then, that is quite unlikely tho. My biggest fear is that the weather is too bad, unsuitable for hiking and the site is closed. Another is the wind direction, you can't walk in the volcanic gasses, it might kill you if inhaled too much so I need to observe conditions.
Soon I will have a post coming from the eruption site, I visited the last time when there, was no liquid lava tho.
In the meantime here is a spot from the last time I was in Iceland. The Bjarnarfoss waterfall on Snaefells peninsula. Pretty cool view to a waterfall that is coming down from a cliff. It was the end of September so snow is likely already this time, this is exactly what happened to us.
I used a neutral density filter for these shots, to get the long exposure in bright conditions.
