Caracas since its foundation has been a complex city, a place where many people from different social strata converge, due to its condition as the capita of the republic, it is a place full of job opportunities, it is the place where the largest and most prestigious country universities and seat of the nation's public powers, therefore it is a city that every year attracts many people looking for a new beginning.
For those who read me and do not know the geographical characteristics of this beautiful city I will explain a little, firstly Caracas is located in the middle of a valley within the Cordillera de La Costa approximately 900 meters above sea level, for Therefore, it enjoys a privileged climate, the general conditions of the terrain are characterized by having great irregularities and the flat areas are very scarce and are mostly concentrated in the center of the valley.
Once we know a little about the geographical characteristics and the importance of this city within the national context then we can enter into today's topic, the contrasts that on this occasion I want to refer have a socioeconomic connotation, in the series From the photographs that I present to you at the end of the post, you will be able to appreciate how in this city there are areas where citizens of different social classes live in the same area, places where differences are very evident, places where the value of the land skyrockets towards up or down depending on which side of the sidewalk you are standing on, in Caracas it is not uncommon to find large buildings within popular neighborhoods, or an area full of large villas in front of middle class towers and you are in turn facing popular areas.
These images are the reflection that characterizes a city that has been battling for centuries and overcoming the difficulties that surrounds it, but at the same time it shows that inequalities are still present on a day-to-day basis. At night it is a city that impacts locals and visitors as the colorful lights over the mountains remind one of the Christmas nativity scenes, but in the morning sunlight reveals the reality of a world full of problems and situations that They must be resolved and attended to in the shortest possible time. For years in the streets of this great city there has been a constant and silent struggle between rich and poor, a class struggle that seems to have no end and that at times has generated friction that history has been in charge of documenting, the truth is that In the XXI century, we should all have the right to the City, which means that access to public services, decent housing, security, education and health should be guaranteed and of high quality, but in Caracas that dream is still It seems to be very distant, for now it is time to continue fighting to achieve better standards of life for all without any distinction.

Caracas desde su fundación ha sido una ciudad compleja, un lugar en donde convergen muchas personas de diferentes estratos sociales, por su condición de cápita de la república es un lugar lleno de oportunidades de trabajo, es el sitio en donde se encuentran las más grandes y prestigiosas universidades país y lugar de asiento los poderes públicos de la nación, por lo tanto es una ciudad que cada año atrae a muchas personas que buscan un nuevo comienzo.
Para los que me leen y no conocen las características geográficas de esta hermosa ciudad les explico un poco, en primer lugar Caracas se encuentra ubicada en medio de un valle dentro de la Cordillera de La Costa aproximadamente a 900 metros sobre el nivel del mar, por lo tanto goza de un clima privilegiado, las condiciones generales del terreno se caracterizan por contar con grandes irregularidades y las aéreas planas son muy escasas y se concentran en su mayoría en el centro del valle.
Una vez que conocemos un poco sobre las características geográficas y la importancia de esta ciudad dentro del contexto nacional entonces podremos entrar en el tema del día de hoy, los contrastes a los que en esta ocasión quiero hacer referencia tienen una connotación socioeconómica, en la serie de fotografías que les presento al final del post podrán apreciar como en esta ciudad existen zonas en donde en una misma área hacen vida ciudadanos de diversas clases sociales, lugares en donde las diferencias son muy evidentes, lugares en donde el valor del suelo se dispara hacia arriba o hacia abajo dependiendo de en qué lado de la acera te encentres parado, en Caracas no es raro encontrar grandes edificios dentro de barriadas populares, o una área llena de grandes quintas frente a torres de la clase media y estas a su vez frente a aéreas populares.
Estas imágenes son el reflejo que caracteriza a una ciudad que lleva siglos batallando y sobreponiéndose a las dificultades que la rodea, pero al mismo tiempo demuestra que las desigualdades siguen presente en el día a día. De noche es una ciudad que impacta a propios y visitantes ya que el colorido de las luces sobre las montañas hace recordar a los pesebres decembrinos, pero en las mañanas con la luz del sol se devela la realidad de un mundo lleno de problemas y situaciones que deben ser resueltas atendidas en el menor tiempo posible. Durante años en las calles de esta gran urbe se vive una constante y silenciosa puja entre ricos y pobres, una lucha de clases que pareciera no tener fin y que en ocasiones ha generado roces que la historia se ha encargado de documentar, lo cierto es que en pleno siglo XXI todos deberíamos tener derecho a la Ciudad, lo cual significa que el acceso a los servicios públicos, a una vivienda digna, a la seguridad, educación y salud deberían estar garantizados y ser de gran calidad, pero en Caracas ese sueño aún parece estar muy distante, por lo pronto toca seguir luchando por conseguir mejores estándares de vida para todos sin distinción alguna.
