Good day everyone, I hope all is going well for each one of you who is reading this. Here at home rainy season is coming to and end but we just go hit by a storm so it has been unusually gloomy and rainy.

On this post I want to share some shots I captured on a recent trip where we where detoured and a 9 hour trip became 16 hours 😅😌. We were traveling from Lake Atitlan in Guatemala towards Chiapas in Mexico. I have to admit that although it took longer than expected I enjoyed the ride, especially the sights. I love looking out the window and contemplating nature, architecture, people and all the sights that you are offered when on the road. Here are some of my sights... enjoy🤗
En este post quiero compartir algunas fotos que capturé en un viaje reciente donde nos desviamos y un viaje de 9 horas se convirtió en 16 horas 😅😌. Viajábamos desde el Lago de Atitlán en Guatemala hacia Chiapas en México. Tengo que admitir que aunque tardamos más de lo esperado disfruté del viaje, sobre todo de las vistas. Me encanta mirar por la ventana y contemplar la naturaleza, la arquitectura, la gente y todas las vistas que se te ofrecen cuando vas por la carretera. Aquí están algunas de mis vistas... disfruten🤗
The inside of our van. You can see the rear view mirror decorated with religious symbols. Although it may not be the first thing that comes to your mind, driving can be a risky and lonely job. On the road drivers face the darkness of the night, car repairs, vandals and the possibility of causing or being caught in a car wreck. They never know for sure of they will be returning home. It is very usual in Latin America for drivers to place in their vehicles religious symbols and good omen talismans to protect them while they go on the road.
El interior de nuestro van. Se puede ver el espejo retrovisor decorado con símbolos religiosos. Aunque puede que no sea lo primero que te venga a la cabeza, conducir puede ser un trabajo arriesgado, solitario y triste. En la carretera, los conductores se enfrentan a la oscuridad de la noche, las reparaciones del coche, robos y la posibilidad de provocar o verse atrapados en un accidente de tráfico. Nunca saben con certeza si volverán a casa. Es muy habitual en América Latina que los conductores coloquen en sus vehículos símbolos religiosos y talismanes de buen augurio para protegerse mientras salen a la carretera.
The geography of the landscape was fairly flat with mountains far on the horizon. As in Guatemala in the south of Mexico and if I am not mistaken in all of Mexico, corn crops are predominant. It is not for nothing that we, the Mayans, are known as people of corn. Watching the sunset turn into night is also a gift that we rarely get the chance to appreciate and this trip gave me that opportunity.
La geografía del paisaje era bastante plana con montañas lejanas en el horizonte. Como en Guatemala en el sur de México y si no me equivoco en todo México, predominan los cultivos de maíz. No por nada a los mayas se nos conoce como la gente del maíz. Ver el atardecer convertirse en noche también es un regalo que pocas veces tenemos la oportunidad de apreciar y este viaje me dio esta ocasion.
A local pharmacy. As I mentioned before I delight in observing everything and among all is the architecture of each place. In this particular part of the earth we enjoy color a great deal. You can see that by observing our cemeteries, the towns and businesses, too. Also we enjoy customizing and adding a bit of humor to our facades, being that of a home our our family owned business. Here you can observe the dolphin on the right and he is voicing out a slogan promoting the medicine sold at this drugstore.
Una farmacia local. Como mencioné antes me deleito observando todo y entre todo está la arquitectura de cada lugar. En esta particular parte de la tierra disfrutamos mucho del color. Eso se nota observando nuestros cementerios, los pueblos y también los negocios. También nos gusta personalizar y añadir un poco de humor a nuestras fachadas, ya sea la de una casa o la de nuestro negocio familiar. Aquí se puede observar el delfín a la derecha que está voceando un eslogan promocionando la medicina que se vende en esta farmacia.
